Custom Computer Monitors by Mentality on 05-27-2006 at 12:27 PM

I'm building a new gaming computer, using the Thermaltake Tai-Chi Tower And I would ideally like it all to be pretty unique, so I was wondering if anyone knows a site where I can request a monitor to be built that will suit the tower or where I can find even a pre-built that is kinda unique that goes with it.

I would ideally like it to be wide screen. oh and HD Ready :P

I been searching but all I can seem to find a specialist companies that work for the military or w.e so they won't do it for the general public.

You buy a small 7" LCD display or even use a laptop monitor.. Then connect some hardware to it and make it display windows 95 per example:P or execute some programs (which display temperature per example)..

I saw a guy doing this in a modding forum a while ago..

HD ready? You mean you want your primary screen intergrated into your tower? How many inch are you thinking about?

ahh right i see whats confusing people now, I dont mean I wanted it integrated, I mean I want it to match the tower. similar theme or the same.

HD Ready = High Definition

Ah, that explains a lot...

Well, if you could even find a company that will create a single custom monitor for a regular person than it's going to cost you LOADS of money, and I do mean LOADS. So I would highly recommend searching an existing one that matches. Silver with black are your base colors and a bit of blue.

I know what HD Ready means, but this label is usually only used on TVs. Anyway, if you want a PC monitor to be HD ready than all you need is a monitor that supports a minimum of 1280x720 pixels and has a proper digital input like DVI or HDMI. Most good flat monitors have that these days.

yeah thats what I meant by Hd, just the connector. anways, I seen some custom ones on Tv and stuff, maybe if I just buy a flat panel, then maybe I could get some kind of cover, anyone know?

Aren't those the ones which make you impotent if you keep them in your lap for too long? I heard something about them being very hot underneath and it can cause "problems".

And, HD Ready is something which you get for TVs - a DVI input isn't necessary to view HD broadcasts on a PC, simply a resolution of 1280x1024 and above, HD is just referring to the fact that the picture quality is better on a TV.

Who works with a laptop on his lap anyway? The invented deks and tables for such things :). Laptops in general can get pretty hot, yes.
