It doesn't work with the latest versions of Windows Live Messenger etc. sorry.
But just start up the software and press "update" or "find" (not sure of the actual button).

Which display picture stealer are you trying to use, please explain a bit more so we can help you, if you're using Stuffplug type /xcedpstealer or /xstealdp in the conversation window.

why not just use printscreen then copy it into a graphics program then crop the pic down to size?? im sure that would work just as well...
