my computer just decided to be a complete wanker... the troubleshooter for msn says my gateway is offline... whats that mean? how do i fix it...
i didnt even change any settings or anything it just decided it was going to break! any help appreciated

Maybe a update from your IS, do you have other internet in your area? On wifi?

Do you have a wireless router?....if so maybe it needs a firmware update.
Have you tried contacting you ISP?

it might be spyware, have you scaned for virus/spyware?

ok ill try an update... but why did this version just die?
and i havent contacted them yet because i can access wbepages so i think its a problem with my computers..

is my router.. im going to try and update.. i had contacting my isp so im gonna try that last.. i just get sent to a phone centre in india and he starts askin how the weather is!?
im gonna phone some friends on the same isp see if they are having any problems... thanks for the help... further suggestions are welcomed

I had the same problem yesterday (the troubleshooter said it was my default gateway that was the problem) which didn't make sense because my it was just me in my whole university halls that had the problem.
Anyway, I just went into the network connections, then into LAN properties, then properties of TCP/IP and changed the IP address from the one written to the default one.
Now this worked a treat for me but I didn't <i>know</i> it would work - i.e I just hoped so. I don't know enough about networks to explain what happened but it seemed to work. Someone here might tell you not to do what I did, but I thought I'd let you know that it worked for me.

the tcp/ip information is all set to obtain automatically... the wired computer cant access ANY internet... whereas this one can, (like im on this site... but msn wont work)

Try going outside and finding someone elses connection to see if the problem is local or just yours, or maybe put a wep on ur network

Ok. that has happened to me before. You have a few options. Turn off your router for 5 minutes and then turn it back on, or just wait a little the problem will be fixed by its own. OR you can call your isp

Have one of those guys come over and they might (dependeing on the isp) Find the problem for free. For now try to see if web msn works

its working now everything.. i think it must have been like maintenance or something cause it feels faste rand msn signed in unbeliveably fast

yay! its working... i got the downstairs pc working and started talking to my uncle that does admin at this college...
everything is working now and i have made backups of the settings,
