log encryption couldn't work! by Mobile on 06-29-2006 at 02:30 AM

Hi there,

I have the latest version of Live Messenger and Live Plus.

When I tried to view the chat log encrypted by live plus 234, an error meesage appeared: "An error occurred while trying to decrypt your file. Please reboot or try on another computer.

When I tried to set a new password for the chat log encryption, another error message said: "Sorry, the cryptgraphic key couldn't be generated on this computer."

Even after I upgraded to the latest 235, the same error messages appeared.

The chat log encryption is the most important feature to me, and I would like to see whether the others have the same problem or would someone tell me why this happened and how to solve it?

Thanks a lot.

Did you try rebooting your computer?... like it says?... What size in bits did you encrypt in?

I have rebooted, uninstall-reinstalled, but it kept telling me the same thing. I just wanted to create new password for protection.
I have tried all 4 siezs, and none of them worked on my laptop.

Any suggestions?

No body has this problem?

I have same or at least similar problem.  The new "Messenger Plus Live" does not create a chat log file.  I have set for encryption and previously had no problem with the older version.  I can get into the encrypted file but there is no entry for a chat session.  Wonder if there is a log compatibility problem with Windows Live Messenger 8.0?

Anyone else having this problem... fix or suggestions needed!  *-)

Win XP Pro SP2 and all Updates
Windows Live Messenger Ver. 8.0
