Tabbed Chats: No longer moving to most recent message? by Daphoid on 07-24-2006 at 08:04 PM
So I'm quite fond of the Tabbed Chat feature in MSG Plus! However in the most recent release (the Live! version) I've noticed that tabs don't automatically switch to the newest message.
Example:
If I have four conversations open (say Jim, Sally, Joe, Steve) if I'm talking to Steve, minimize the Window, and Sally messages me, it used to switch to that tab automatically and flash in the taskbar, I'd click it and type away happily.
However I've noticed this doesn't happen now, the taskbar flashes, but it stays on the last person I messaged.
Am I missing something?
Thanks!

There is still a time delay before it switches messages.... So are you waiting like 30 seconds?
EDIT: Maybe it was forgotten?

Well I've been waiting longer then that, but I'll test it now with people, one second....
Nope, I just stared at the button for over a minute and it didn't change, I had to click the button, then click the blinking tab.

The autoswitchin has been taken out for a reason.

Wow there's a lot more too it I see. I guess I was also "one of the lucky ones" as I never experienced any problems with the tabs switching with new messages, they only switched when I had the window minimized or out of focus, but didn't want I was typing/reading a conversation.
I think however that the "confusion" mentioned in the other thread isn't really a bug of the feature, but rather how people use MSN. If you have lots of windows open at all times in front of you, I can see why a window switching around like that would cause problems; however if you're the kind of user that uses one program at a time, and just ALT+TAB's between everything, it wouldn't be an issue.
I still wish it was an option (disabled by default) not just stripped out.

Thats nice but I want it to flash to the person who has actually just replied though then i can quickly reply to them
Then make a script.
is there such a script available?
EDIT: didnt notice the second page but anyway, found what i was searching for... maybe there are others who need that
