Everytime i download a script it, i restart msn and it comes up with this, see image below: RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Supersonicdarky on 07-28-2006 at 09:01 PM
i have that everytime i start wlm too, there is nothing you can do about it other than diable mcaffe or remove the script that causes it RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by absorbation on 07-28-2006 at 09:12 PM This is probably due to the script connecting to the internet to detect if a new version is out . RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by kcir on 07-28-2006 at 09:19 PM
quote: Nooope. It does it everytime i attempt to sign in. Maybe a new anti-virus is on the list... RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by qgroessl on 07-28-2006 at 09:21 PM
quote:Could be possible still... I'm not sure how the auto update works, but I'd imagine some would work upon sign-in.... And do you mean maybe a new virus is on the list. RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by kcir on 07-28-2006 at 09:27 PM
quote: might find a new anti virus to use instead of mcafee. any reccomendations? RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Voldemort on 07-28-2006 at 09:34 PM free avg + sygate firewall +spybot s&d RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Keikonium on 07-28-2006 at 09:44 PM I second the AVG recommendation. Zonealarm firewall is also nice, but some people have had issues with it and WLM (on the mess.be fourms anyway). RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by wlmcrap on 07-29-2006 at 10:39 PM
I would recommend avast! antivirus + Spybot-S&D or Windows Defender Beta 2 (only installs on non-pirated windows) + ZoneAlarm (firewall) RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Huhu_Manix on 07-30-2006 at 01:22 AM
I don't recommand antivirus. Only an firewall. RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Chestah on 07-30-2006 at 02:01 AM
quote: o.o, my script doesn't do anything that might even be seen as malicious =/. My advice, delete mcafee and install another antivirus program or just don't run antivirius at all - which is what i've been doing for awhlie. As long as you don't download dodgy files you'll be fine. RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Hank on 07-30-2006 at 03:52 AM Get NOD32 highly recommend that RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by wlmcrap on 07-30-2006 at 05:23 AM
I think that he would prefer sumthing free. RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Joereynolds89 on 08-04-2006 at 09:52 PM
I also highly recommend NOD32 uses hardly any computer resource and has one if not the best scanner on the net, also about windows defender it can be installed on windows which isnt genuine pm if info is needed! though i do run genuine easier that way! RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by wlmcrap on 08-04-2006 at 09:57 PM How? I can download it but when I go to install it it won't let me. RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by snAke_LeAder on 08-05-2006 at 06:47 PM !Avast rulez RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Huhu_Manix on 08-05-2006 at 07:36 PM Antivirus Just be careful about your download... RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Gran_PC on 08-22-2006 at 08:38 AM I recommend Kaspersky Anti-virus, Agnitum Outpost Firewall and Spybot S&D RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Eagle_Erwin on 08-22-2006 at 09:17 AM
You can disable the Suspicious Script warnings in McAfee: RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Jesus on 08-22-2006 at 10:46 AM
McAfee sux RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Wally on 12-01-2006 at 11:50 AM hi peaple iv been repairing computers for 3 years i can say that mcafee would hav to be the best nod32 is pretty good iv used that but a few registry problems iv found avast is good for protection but not when the computer is actually infected its cant handle cleaning many viruses at once i hope this has helped and i forgot to menchan lol DO not i repeat DO not get norton that would hav to be the worst virus cleaner ever with the script activity iv had it as well this is because one of the plus! scripts is trying to open or make another file this is compleatly safe BUT im still trying to turn this off im sure its possible RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by CookieRevised on 12-01-2006 at 06:59 PM
Note that those script warnings have got nothing todo with the scripts themselfs, nor with Messenger Plus!, nor with Windows Live or MSN Messenger... RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Wally on 12-02-2006 at 03:32 AM very good points but you know seeing a message like that esspecialy for inexperienced peaple would get them worried onestly though thanks for the advice RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by CookieRevised on 12-02-2006 at 03:37 AM
quote:which actually sums up what I try to say (I need to learn to keep things simple )... There is no use in getting people worried for nothing. In fact, showing false positives and useless warnings and what not, make real warnings and all less effective. But apparently this is how most things go today, the more warnings the better, doesn't matter if they are usefull, correct or legit... quote: RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Wally on 12-03-2006 at 12:08 AM yeah i already ignore them but hav the scripts from the threads been tested because wen i started using them this is when the messages come up do yu rekon they can cause a problem many thank RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Menthix on 12-03-2006 at 12:19 AM
Scripts on the forum are not "officially tested" since everyone can post them there. But generally they are save, especially when people already replies in the topic that it works nicely. RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Dane on 12-03-2006 at 01:13 AM
quote: For users of McAfee 2007 Products:
WARNING: Some versions of McAfee software, not just the 2007 version, may warn you that your virus protection is disabled or requires attention. It is OK to ignore this warning. I personally just want to note that my "McAfee Internet Security 2007" has never alerted me to a Messenger Plus! Script...with script scanning enabled. If you're not receiving an alert for scripts, I would leave protection on. RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Wally on 12-03-2006 at 01:38 AM i dont use 2007 it had a few problems when i tried it it worked but every second day i would come up with that it needs attention i just use 2006 i think ill use 2007 when it gets a little better but thanks for the post RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Dane on 12-03-2006 at 03:05 AM
quote: Yes, the "problem" you're referring to is simply an AntiPiracy Measure. 2007 confirms your subscription every day when checking for updates, so when you restart your computer or even resume from hibernation, it may alert you that it needs attention. That shouldnt be a problem though if you really paid for it. I doubt that they'll change that. RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Wally on 12-03-2006 at 03:11 AM ohhh ok fair enough thanks kobol your a legend but the subcription i use in 2006 in my account with mcafee it says i hav a year in updates left i used that same subscription is this wrong in any way RE: Mcafee says suspicious script has been detected by Dane on 12-03-2006 at 09:54 AM
quote:Well, essentially, if you have a year left, its to Version 2006 of the software...it will not carry over to 2007. You will need to purchase a license to 2007 to use it. |
