hijacked browser IE6 by tzolo on 08-05-2006 at 07:54 PM

[size=2]
Recently one of my friend had a nasty problem with IE6 browser. He tryed to search some site addresses and was redirected to www.olmadi.net , a porn site. Consequence his browser was hijacked and Tools/ Internet Options / Home page was blocked. I try to install Spybot Search and Destroy to recover the home page control without success.
Who can help me?

Try uninstalling programs he installed immediately before his browser got hijacked. If this doesn't bring success try downloading ad-aware and do a virus scan aswell. Registery checkers can help stop this kind of thing happening.

Tell him to try a system restore(Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore) to a previous date when he didn't install something infectious.

I would try to fix the problem first, before doing a system restore. Don't always rely on it to 'cure' problems. Sometimes it can make things worse. Boot up in safe mode and do scans with Spybot and even Ad-aware. If you're knowledgable enough, try HijackThis!.

If all else fails, turn to System Restore.
