With the old version i used a dot and a $ then a number but i can't get the number can someone talk me through the way please? RE: Confuses-please help with colours by Zahid™ on 08-16-2006 at 07:19 PM In the WLM settings (Tool>Options>Display Name) you'll find a new button that allows you to add colors and other style to your nickname. RE: Confuses-please help with colours by EllieGirl on 08-16-2006 at 07:22 PM thank you RE: Confuses-please help with colours by krissyafc on 08-18-2006 at 10:54 AM Is there not codes you can put in your name so you can make each letter a differant colour because i heard there was so can some one help!!!!!!!!!! RE: Confuses-please help with colours by Zahid™ on 08-18-2006 at 11:05 AM
quote:Yes there is use [c=insert hexadecimal colour code here]Put letter here[/c] And do that for every letter. Or you can make a gradient: [c=insert hexadecimal colour code here] Put nick name here.[/c=insert hexadecimal colour code here] You can find hex colour codes here: http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html RE: Confuses-please help with colours by krissyafc on 08-18-2006 at 11:28 AM
am sorry i dont understang can you tell me it in a easyer way RE: Confuses-please help with colours by Zahid™ on 08-18-2006 at 11:34 AM
quote:In the display name in options just click on the button on the right which says format code and just click on a colour you want for each letter so when you click on the colour it will come up as this: [c=Number or hex colour code][/c] so you put your letter in between [c=Number or hex colour code][/c] like this: [c=Number or hex colour code]Z[/c] and then choose another colour and then just do the same steps but put a different letter like this: [c=Number or hex colour code]a[/c] And so on. quote: code:But its too long too for a nick RE: Confuses-please help with colours by krissyafc on 08-19-2006 at 10:23 AM
oh it ids too big for a nick what would it look like if it was just RE: Confuses-please help with colours by Zahid™ on 08-19-2006 at 10:29 AM
Copy this in to your screen name: code: RE: Confuses-please help with colours by markee on 08-19-2006 at 10:33 AM
code:I think this is what you want. EDIT: This is shorter than Zahid's because he has made 2 consecutive symbols the one colour individually and not put them both in the same tag. RE: Confuses-please help with colours by CookieRevised on 08-19-2006 at 10:41 AM
quote: For starters it was never recommended to directly use those internal color codes (the dot and $). To apply colors to text or your nick you use either the shortcut keys CTRL+K or use the color tags like (!FC12). The old color codes still work btw. But on top of that you can also use the new bbcode system (which is what is shown in this thread). quote:Note that bbcode style color format codes can be nested. So in other words, it is rather useless to individually color each and every square bracket in that nickname. Simply color the whole name in 1 color, and then individually colorize each letter: code: which will be showed as "[k][r][i][s][s][y]". And thus is waaaaaaaaaay shorter. to make more visible and clear the scheme being used: [c=0] [c=12]H[/c]ello [c=12]W[/c]orld [/c] As you can see, the blue color (index 12) is nested within the white overall color (index 0). Result is that everything will be in white, except for the uppercase letters. ----- EDIT1: But also note that the bbcodes can not be seen by people using MSN Messenger 7.x with Plus! 3.x. They are not downwards compatible! To have a colored nick (and text for that matter) which people with Plus!3 also can see, use the old style color codes (thus IRC shortcuts). Note that old style color codes can not be nested as with bbcode style codes. Thus to have "[k][r][i][s][s][y]" you need to enter: code: ----- EDIT2 (not that I have the time after replying to those other posts which shouldn't have been posted ): The complete nick "[K][r][i][s][s][ ][T][a][y][l][o][r]" in old style is: code:this is just short enough to set as a nickname (and thus also compatible with Plus!3). RE: Confuses-please help with colours by Nagamasa on 08-19-2006 at 10:52 AM Since most of the people that I have on my account still use 7.5 (they dont listen to me to upgrade!!) with MP!3, which ways of colouring my display name will work? RE: Confuses-please help with colours by Zahid™ on 08-19-2006 at 11:01 AM
quote:Both ways will work but the contacts that do not have MP!L and WLM will not be able to see it if you do it the BBcode way, so if you want to use MP!L but you want your MSNM contacts to see the colour you can use the the old way of the ·$ and the CTRL + K. RE: Confuses-please help with colours by krissyafc on 08-19-2006 at 11:04 AM
Thanks but there is a probelm it too long and i cant fit it all in so if the old way still works it will fit in (dot and $) i have put a attachment with this to show you what i meen RE: Confuses-please help with colours by CookieRevised on 08-19-2006 at 11:06 AM see my previous post for a way shorter version which will do exactly the same (though it is in bbcode; I'll update the post with old style codes too) RE: Confuses-please help with colours by krissyafc on 08-19-2006 at 11:11 AM so what is it my name in the short verson ( [k][r][i][s][s][y] ) with colours RE: Confuses-please help with colours by markee on 08-19-2006 at 11:13 AM
After reading Cookie's post and reminding me about overlaying the colours I have re-written it a shorter way (rather than just copying the other one. code:And here is the MP! 3.xx version code:These should fit I think P.S. I think Cookie wanted you to work it out for yourself so you weren't dependant upon others to do it for you next time (sorry Cookie ) RE: Confuses-please help with colours by CookieRevised on 08-19-2006 at 11:20 AM
markee, that code is wrong... quote:no I did not... 1) I already posted that short code (in the correct way, yours is wrong <=EDIT you fixed it now) in the same post which reminded you that bbcode colors can be nested. 2) And I again repeated in a next post: quote:... So this is the third time I say: see my previous post (please read posts people ) RE: Confuses-please help with colours by markee on 08-19-2006 at 11:28 AM Woops, I added an extra s and forot the ] off the end, apart from this it is exactly like yours so I can't see how I was that wrong (unless you were talking about the spelling mistakes). I'll fix mine up now even though you have it. At least my other one was correct RE: Confuses-please help with colours by CookieRevised on 08-19-2006 at 11:29 AM
quote:hence why it was wrong. quote:it included many spaces which weren't needed, so that wasn't correct either . (this makes it to 7 posts which shouldn't have been posted if posts were actually read more carefully ) |
