firewall by cajuncelt on 09-10-2006 at 12:19 AM

I suspect someone of spying on my messenger conversations.  I'd like to block them from being able to do that.  I'd like to change the port that messenger transmits and receives on.  Im using comodo software firewall.  Any advice would be helpful.

I'm not sure, but I think that it is hard to spy on anyone's conversation because of WLM has RSA Data Security. The only way to spy is to add spywares on your computer itself.

Do you know of a specific spyware that could be used for this purpose that i can search for

RE: firewall by cloudhunter on 09-10-2006 at 12:56 AM

Er, noone would post it here. I don't think it is possible to change the port it sends and transmits on. However, I believe you can use a proxy.

is there a way to do that without setting up a server in my house

RE: firewall by cloudhunter on 09-10-2006 at 12:59 AM

Yes, there are free or limited use servers. Try something like "Your Freedom". Just google it. I've tested it with MSN, and it works fine, although it doesn't seem to like webcams.

Can't you just search your computer for spyware?

It appears as though she is able to eves drop on the conversation remotely while it is in progress.

RE: firewall by cajuncelt on 09-10-2006 at 02:36 AM

i have local host listening to itself on ports 5226 and 1033 and i cant seem to block it by firewall.  could this be related

RE: firewall by cloudhunter on 09-10-2006 at 02:48 AM

Also try Spybot S&D...

On a side note, there might be some remote desktop software...

How do you know the person is listening? and btw, don't triple post.

RE: firewall by cajuncelt on 09-10-2006 at 02:49 AM

The offending party knew specific details of a conversation i was in the process of having with someone else

RE: firewall by lizard.boy on 09-10-2006 at 03:21 AM

Is it possible that the offending party is watching your contact's conversation?

RE: firewall by cajuncelt on 09-10-2006 at 03:25 AM

yes it is possible, how can i isolate which person is being spied on?  It appears as though the offending party also has the ability to prevent a new network connection, masked or otherwise, from appearing on the list of active connections that is displayed by netstat.  She hacks into my girlfriends screen name and has a conversation with me, and my connection list only shows my girlfriends IP addy.  She also managed to activate my gf's webcam on yahoo msgr remotely.

Sounds like some kind of trojan or some kind of vnc type session. Run a virus scan.

Check out your gfs computer as soon as you can.
