Can this be made by a script? by Zeh on 09-22-2006 at 06:56 PM

I have this question. I want my desktop contacts to appear even when they are offline changing the transparency betwin online and offline. And because they are too many I can't put them in "always on top". So I wanted to have the online ones allways on top and the offline ones on the backround. Is this possible to be made by some script?

If I read your question correctly, the stuff you ask contradicts. That is:
1) you want contacts to be visible all the time (offline or not)
2) you don't want them on top

It's one of the two, you can't have both.

Then choose in the preferences:
Plus! > Preferences > Messenger > Contacts on Desktop > Alter settings based on contact's status: Hide when offline...

No need for any script (a script wouldn't be able to alter this anyways).

;)

If I misunderstood you, my excuses, can you explain it a bit in more detail or in another way in that case?

LOL. I guess you missunderstood. But it's normal i'm portuguese and all and translating from english to portuguese i do like a pro but when it is the other way around I confuse my ideas. What i was asking was like having all of your desktip contacts showing despite the status. But in the case of the online, busy, away, etc they would always show on top of the active window and the offline ones instead would just stay behind everything on the desktop. Tell me if I still am being confusing, because I really tend to make you guys wonder "what the hell is that guy trying to say?" lol

Ah....

So you want that the "always on top" automatically is enabled for those who are online and disabled for those who are offline...

Well, that isn't currently possible in Plus!. And unfortunatly (for you ;)) this isn't possible with scripting either as scripts can change registry settings, but they can't force Plus! to read those registry settings and applying them.

However, if you choose the option I mentionned in my previous post, you will have almost the same effect: offline contacts will simply dissapear (just as they would vanish with your suggestion when another window is shown on top), and online contacts will be shown on top.

Thanks. I already use option to make the offline ones desapear I asked this because I was trying to make some desktop changes and I thought It would be cool if it apeared the way I said. But if it isn't possible one can only hope patchou puts an option like that in some next release. ;)

It's not possible at all. A movie wouldn't work due to protocol and client setup so you couldn't do that, and if you're thinking flash movie well it could be possible, but we don't have the signature from Microsoft so we can't sign our flash files to be accepted by WLM.
