I always wanted to see the options : Do you wish to display to others if you are typing or not ? This options is available in aMSN advanced options. I searched for plugins patches to do this but haven't found any. So this is my suggestion.
I don't know if Patchou is reading that section of the forum tho

I believe Messenger Discovery will let you do this. However, be careful because MDL is known to sometimes cause problems.

Take a look at my post too, in the end of page 2, there is a filter, but till now I don't know if works/how to use it....
Anyway:
[Quest-Request] Invisible YYY is typing a message
Edit: By the way, was a good idea that you can turn on/off the "filter"
