Whenever i try install MP!L 4.10.250 that message is displayed:

An error occurred while installing Messenger Plus!. Please try again later.


Why?

Im using:

Windows Live Messenger 8.1 Beta
Windows XP SP2

OK firstly, I would remove MSN/Windows Live Messenger by going Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.

Then go Start -> Run and type in (without quotes) "C:\Program Files" and then search for 2 folders folder called MSN Messenger and Messenger PLus! Live (or Messenger Plus! if your talking about Plus1 3). If both or one of those folders is there delete it, if you can't find the folder, just move onto the next step.

Now restart your computer and then once your computer comes back into windows, install MSN/Windows Live Messenger and then Messenger PLus! 3/Live.

Hope this helps

Also note, I will hopefully work on something that will remove registry settings as well. but that will come in time.

1º Unnistalled WLM

2º Sought the two folders ( I didn't find none )

3º Restarted the computer

4º Installed the WLM 8.1 Beta

5º When I tried to install MessengerPlus! Live 4.10.250, the same error is showed:

An error occurred while installing Messenger Plus!. Please try again later.

Should I give up?

MessengerPlus Live 4.01.240 and Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0812 always work fine for me.

maybe instead of installing the BETA version of Messenger, install 8.0 again and try installing the latest version of Messenger Plus! Live.

Version 4.10.250 is compatible...maybe you should make sure you have the latest version by downloading it from http://download.msgpluslive.net/setup/MsgPlusLive-410.exe

Also, using 8.1 or 8.0 is really not that much different, after all 8.1 doesn't really bring anything new apart from more headaches

Besides I downloaded of the link that you mentioned.

Niobe, save the file to disk before you install it. In other words on downloading Plus! choose "save" instead of "open". Then install by doubleclicking that file.

Alrighty then, i will ask you now to download Plus! Live from my website after you turned off any possible downloadmanagers..choose "local" after you clicked download. Once downloaded unzip the file and try to install again.

If that still doesn't work, are there any programs preventing writing to the registry and do you have admin rights on your account? If nr1, turn all those off. If no admin rights please boot into safe mode (continuously hit F8 on startup of your comp) and install on the account called "administrator" (you can do this too if you are unsure of programs running that might interfere installing).

Let me know your results.
