Hello, I have enocuntered some problems (my friend lets say). A couple of days ago, some one from rogers came to fix my internet connnection because it was slow. When they were done, I found that they put a WEP on the connection. So when trying to connect from a different laptop, it is automatic there. On my pocket pc, or PSP, or other connections, i cant connect because i dont know the WEP. On my default computer, i am connected by LOCAL AREA CONNECTION, and there is no sign of a router present on my computer, but i am connected to the router, but for somereason my computer only finds my modem. How can i find my WEP? Even though im connected by local area connection, and what do i need to do to connect to my router physcally instead of the modem. ---- RE: WEP KEY by Supersonicdarky on 11-20-2006 at 11:18 PM
configure the router, google for its ip and enter it into your browser (usually 192.168.*.*) RE: WEP KEY by Steven on 11-20-2006 at 11:28 PM
But its not installed, well i think it is, its connected to the modem but im connected to the LOCAL AREA CONNECTION, and so i cant configure anything. RE: WEP KEY by Supersonicdarky on 11-20-2006 at 11:31 PM
if you are connected to the lan, go to your browser and type in the ip thats used by your router, you dont need to be connected to the internet to configure it. RE: WEP KEY by Steven on 11-20-2006 at 11:38 PM
how do you find out the ip, do you need to go on whatsmyip.com? or is their a special one for your router? RE: WEP KEY by Supersonicdarky on 11-20-2006 at 11:40 PM o jeez, add me to wlm if u dont already got me and i'll solve it quicker there RE: WEP KEY by Steven on 11-20-2006 at 11:42 PM
EDIT RE: WEP KEY by Supersonicdarky on 11-20-2006 at 11:44 PM added, now remove/hide the adress before the scarry spambots come and eat the mailbox alive RE: WEP KEY by Steven on 11-21-2006 at 12:00 AM Okay, thanks it worked. RE: WEP KEY by MattyRid on 11-21-2006 at 03:15 AM I was jst thinking...would it not be easier to reset the modem/router to default settings? and then configure it the way you want? quote: Thanks but too late Anyways it was my friend, supersonic helped him, in the end it turns out the WEP was his dads cell phone number. He says thanks |
