It seems like it is possible to post-date emails?

But how?

Mailserver with wrongly configured date. Spammers seem to try and take advantage of it so their spam shows up on top in your client, which is why i always set it to sort on "date received" (by your own mailserver) instead of "date sent" (by some dodgy spamserver).

Does this mean it is also possible to have an earlier date for the email?

And is it possible to do this using Windows Live Mail or Yahoo! Mail?

Windows Live Mail or Yahoo! Mail won't support it. Though its possible to pre-date emails the same way. Search Google for more information [Image: msn_tongue.gif].

The point of spamming is that spammers earn money (most of the time when you bugy the product they advertise). Massmail 1,000,000 people, lets say 0.01% ends up buying something... that would still generate a nice amount of money, certainly when you're spamming from machines you don't pay for like open relay mailservers or trojan infected home PCs.
