Lost Preferences Password by DieterII on 12-29-2006 at 08:22 PM

Hello. Recently I changed my preferences password and basically I have now forgotten it. I've tried a lot of passwords i've used before and they just won't work. Is there any way I can reset my password or delete the file where the password is stored?

Go to Start > Run > Type regedit and press Enter. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Patchou > Messenger Plus! Live > (your@email.address) > Preferences, and delete the key labeled PreferencesLockPwd.

If you can do that whats the point of having a password. :)

This is only for Messenger Plus! Live.

(don't assume people are using Messenger Plus! Live automatically)

For Messenger Plus! 3, see:

It provides a simple basic protection. The proof it works as a basic protection is in the top post since he didn't know how to access the preferences again.

Also, even if you couldn't just delete that registry key, the pure existance is technically useless because settings are stored in the registry anyways which is accessable by the user.
