Because "Subject" takes those two columns as well. It takes three columns: page links, emoticons and thread title/link.

It's called a colspan, nub.
There's no point in having headers for the first two columns because they're so narrow.

It's just that the normal forum pages have the 2 first columns 'colspanned' while the latest post have the 3 first columns 'colspanned'.
