quote: quote:Erm.. if you dont know what a mirror is, i would reccomend creating a technology related forum... Besides, there are allready plenty out there. ![]() EDIT: quote:No. MyBB is probably the best one out there. And heres free MyBB hosting... ![]() RE: Making forum by Jimbo on 01-04-2007 at 04:51 PM
quote:Well first, if you upload scripts, make sure you ask the developer first and give him/her full credit on your site. About getting a direct link to plus live, i'd ask patchou or an admin (WDZ, wj, Chris boulton etc). A mirror is just like anotehr download link incase the main server download link goes down/exceedes bandwith limit. quote:Yes i agree asI recomend to use Mybb or Vbuletin as they are both good but you need to upload them to your host. If you want an automated one use http://createmybb.com. Good luck in your forum RE: Making forum by kni on 01-04-2007 at 04:56 PM Whats an automated forum? RE: Making forum by Jimbo on 01-04-2007 at 04:57 PM

quote:umm well basically, you go onto a website, enter your username, email etc and it makes the forum for you. So you don't have to upload the files yourself. Sorry, maybe someone can explain better... RE: Making forum by kni on 01-04-2007 at 05:08 PM

quote:I totally agree, i think she should just go to a few technolgy forums and learn then create one. But if its "fun" creating one go ahead Also if you do create this forum and need help ask here Plus i would advise you to learn some "other" languages such as HTML, java script and also understand the would of technology ![]() RE: Making forum by Oxy on 01-04-2007 at 06:06 PM
quote: Well, actually, i think that there are too many technology boards around, (big ones like msghelp.net and mess.be, but also include others like the technoage) and i think just having a general discussion board just between you and your friends is a better idea. RE: RE: Making forum by kni on 01-04-2007 at 09:12 PM

quote:I am pretty sure that's debatable. I prefer MyBB as well but I'm pretty sure that fact is debatable. It always is ![]() MyBB is going quite well though. 'Tis pretty hot right now (as its been for quite a while ![]() RE: Making forum by Eddie on 01-08-2007 at 01:19 PM
quote:very true, the Invision Power Board is pretty good, but you have to pay for that, which is where MyBB wins ![]() ![]() RE: Making forum by NanaFreak on 01-08-2007 at 01:24 PM
ok seeing as you guys could really answer the first questions i will quote:no you should not do that... you should just post a like to the thread / page where the developer has it quote:no you should just have a like to the downloads page of msgpluslive.net (here) quote:it is another website that the author of a program (in this case) has allowed to host the files (and keep VERY up to date) so that it can take some stress of the main server ![]() quote:i dont know from experience with that particular board but i recommend MyBB. it is very easy to customize and it is also what is run on this forum ![]() i hope this clears things up for you.... RE: Making forum by plus on 01-08-2007 at 04:47 PM
I am making a forum as well and i was wondering this, RE: Making forum by WDZ on 01-08-2007 at 04:59 PM
You can have HTTP authentication like that on any site, but you can't use it in place of MyBB's regular login system. It would be a second layer of password-protection. RE: Making forum by plus on 01-08-2007 at 05:01 PM
Thanks WDZ RE: Making forum by WDZ on 01-08-2007 at 05:18 PM
What web server are you using? Apache? RE: Making forum by plus on 01-08-2007 at 07:20 PM
i am using a forum site (mybb) RE: Making forum by WDZ on 01-08-2007 at 07:40 PM
Well, you can't use HTTP authentication unless you can modify the server configuration or the source code of your copy of MyBB. RE: Making forum by plus on 01-08-2007 at 08:09 PM so how can you modify a server RE: Making forum by WDZ on 01-08-2007 at 08:18 PM
