I'm sure you've all heard this...
"The First 30 Years Were Just The Beginning. Welcome to 2007".

Please don't think I'm a fanboy because I like all techie products equally :refuck:.

Anyway, post your predictions/wishes/hopes as to what Steve Job's keynote will bring.

I leave you with a video from youtube...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2K-y5MuxMbA&NR

Also check out http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2007/01/20070107125530.shtml

and see those videos. Really crappy quality, but if the product looks anything like the mockup on the youtube video, I'll be sure to buy it.

I'm still hoping for an Apple Phone of some sort and after destroying my k750 last December, I've been holding off purchasing a new phone for this reason.

I'm not sure if it will happen or not.

I'm also hoping for an updated Mac Mini, more cool OS X stuff (10.5, iWork, iLife etc), and finalised "iTv" details.

I'll be up at 4am my time watching the Keynote as usual.

RE: Macworld 2007 by Adeptus on 01-09-2007 at 03:24 AM

I too am hoping for a phone, because I want/need both an iPod and a new phone, and the idea of two in one sounds great.  The MP3 player part is much more important to me than the phone part (it only has to make calls to keep me happy), so most of the current products of that sort don't really interest me -- they all seem designed to be phones first, with a lousy MP3 player tacked on as an afterthought.  :(

RE: Macworld 2007 by Rolando on 01-09-2007 at 03:26 AM

I don't know if they'll release an apple phone, it would be really cool if they did though.

RE: Macworld 2007 by Val on 01-09-2007 at 03:36 AM

I would totaly buy it if it came out! When I get the money of course ;)

This would probably replace my MOTO ROKR which is basicaly the "iPod" Phone (it's crap :().

Hope to see some more updates about this!

RE: Macworld 2007 by Weyzza on 01-09-2007 at 07:37 PM

$599 with 2-year contract?!
* Weyzza waits until iPhone gets released in Asia :chrongue:

Besides, Asian folks are more picky in cellphone technology, maybe they will make some more neat features in the future.

Plus, I hate Cingular :p

RE: Macworld 2007 by ipab on 01-09-2007 at 08:23 PM

Ugh, it looks like I cannot order it in Canada :(.

RE: Macworld 2007 by albert on 01-09-2007 at 09:12 PM

Oh my God.. I never thought I'd say this.. But I want an apple device..

RE: Macworld 2007 by user27089 on 01-09-2007 at 09:46 PM

http://www.apple.com/iphone

I was checking it out earlier after reading an article about it on Neowin, the phone looks excellent, I'm actually considering buying one, despite the prices of the two handsets.

One of the main things I like about it is that it comes out in Europe before Asia, that never usually happens!

I thought that was the price without the contract...
Of course you could just buy it and unlock it ;)

With or without the contract, it's overpriced in my opinion :p
I will not buy cellphones from service providers as they will print their ugly names on the phones :p

someone has to pay for the technology they madefor you to use so i think $599 is a cheap price compared to other phones on the market
RE: Macworld 2007 by markee on 01-10-2007 at 04:58 AM

And you have to remember how quick the price of a phone drops as well 8-)

RE: Macworld 2007 by Adeptus on 01-10-2007 at 05:06 AM

While I can't say I've been disappointed by the iPhone unveiling in terms of what it offers and how incredibly slick it looks -- I have no doubt it will be the best smartphone on the market by a huge margin -- I am probably not getting one.

I had delayed purchase of an iPod and replacing my phone in anticipation of this and nevertheless, in strictly personal, "suits my needs" way, I am disappointed.  I had hoped for a much less flashy device that would fit the description of an iPod + basic GSM phone.  Perhaps I am "old school", perhaps it's just my lifestyle, but I don't own a smartphone now and really don't think I am missing anything.  I don't want a big device.  I don't want to be checking my email on my phone.  I certainly don't want to pay monthly for the data service plan that would require.  I don't even need a camera on my phone -- all it has to do is make calls and send text messages.

June availability (I want something sooner) and Cingular (a carrier I don't use and don't especially like from what I keep hearing) are not good either.  I will have to think it over for a few days, but right now, I see myself just getting a Nano and a new phone of some sort (feel free to make suggestions).

There were no mentions about Leopoard and its release date or any updates to the Mac range, such as the possibilty of a 8 core Mac Pro :(

It's $499 and $599 for the phone with the contract - you can't buy it without being on the Cingular contract.

Unlocking it is useless too - there are some bigger changes in the way phone carriers/networks work for this device - the Random Access Voicemail feature being one, call conferencing and stuff like that. The majority of phone networks do not have this so you begin to lose functionality (Cingular is apparently the first and only with the voicemail features)

More Mac announcements in the coming weeks and February apparently.

Hopefully we get a Core 2 Duo Mac Mini - I can sell my old Core Duo mini and get a newer one.

2008 with the phone for Australia blows majorly but as I mentioned, there are infrastructure changes which need to go in place first as well as Australian FCC approval etc.

That being said, no way I am holding off for a phone so like Adeptus - suggestions for a new phone would work for me as well.

I think you have a fair point there, but I feel you haven't done enough looking in to all of this to really be able to make such a decision just yet.

For starters the phone is like the size and weight of a 30GB ipod video except a couple of millimetres taller.  Secondly, this phone still doesnt have some of the features normally associated with a smart phone such as work and excel capabilities (yet at least).  However, the many feature of normal mobiles and smart phones that it has, all seem, to me at least, far more user friendly. You will also have no need for internet over your telecommunication provider if you are in a wifi hotspot.

I realise it might not be the best for your situation but I think people need to look at all the facts on things before making a definite decision on something that isn't even in shops yet.
RE: Macworld 2007 by Eddie on 01-10-2007 at 02:49 PM

the iPhone looks very nice and well worth the money :) would get one but dont really want to just lash out $500 AUD for it when i have a phone, oh well its still a year before it hits aussie shores ;)

RE: Macworld 2007 by absorbation on 01-10-2007 at 04:18 PM

I was expecting more from Macworld this year. The iPhone has had some big publicity, but Apple TV is really important, it's changing the way we will watch TV.

In the future your TV will come through your Internet connection ;).
