ADSL Max is up to 8MB, chances are you will get about 5mb unless you are pretty close to your exchange and have a good line. RE: Upgrade BT by Kenji on 01-10-2007 at 07:54 PM

Your exact connection speed can be found by going into your router settings. RE: Upgrade BT by kao on 01-10-2007 at 11:14 PM
I live 1.2km from my exchange, from my admin panel on ISPs site "Current Line Rate 6,816 kb/s (updated 06/01/2007)" RE: Upgrade BT by EBFL on 01-11-2007 at 05:33 PM So, is mine still 'upgrading' because according to BT that whilst is upgrading the internet will randomly stop working. But i dont see any more improvement but my internet still sometimes stops working and its annoying RE: Upgrade BT by absorbation on 01-11-2007 at 05:39 PM
It won't get faster, your connection can go up to 8MB, but you need to look at reality here. You lose speed because you need to connect to the main stream of wires underground, which can be miles away. You also lose speed if your neighbours also use BT, as they are accessing the same line as you, and thus you are sharing their speed. BT also has to go through your phone line, which can slow your connection down. |
