I have heard MacBooks are the way forward.

What would you all suggest?

Thank You in advance.

It all depends what you want it to do.

If you want a mac, the MacBook/MacBook pro is the only way to go. Macs are nice for their user friendly interface and great stability compared to other OS's. All (most new ones anyways) come with a built-in webcam and microphone, bluetooth, Wi-Fi and more useful features. Get a MacBook Pro for the power but they are rather large compared to the MacBooks.

If you want something like a gaming laptop (which suck tbh since they only last for like 30 mins on the battery) you should go with alienware.

If you want something to last, I would get an IBM Thinkpad (or lenovo, w/e they call them now).

You can also go with a tablet which is basically a laptop with a touchscreen and the screen rotates. I don't know much about them, so I can't recommend a company for you, so just do a quick google search.

I don't know much about what laptops are the "best overall" so don't trust my word on it.

Personally, I really love Toshiba's satelittes.. I think they are well built and not that overpriced..

IBM's wonderful yet their design is most of the time pretty basic..
(not to mention their prices..)

Sorry to break the news to you, but no. Dell makes their laptops in a very cheap way and they fall apart very fast. The paint starts to peel, plastic falls off, etc. Maybe you just got lucky and got a good model.

no, not really. i am not a dell fan/customer, yet a lot of people have them in school (need your own laptop) and they have not been damaged besides scratches even when treated REALLY bad....

the dell company from other countries, including mine, is lousier than you can imagine.
in my country, i ddin't use dell neither will i buy it, this is what i heard from my friends, dell monitor literally melts under high temperature (6-7 hours usage), while for laptops, one will feel the pain carrying dell laptops after half an hour or so, it's seriously heavy and bulky (carried my boss's dell laptop once), and similarly to what ValSpy had said, paint starts to peel, plastic falls off, etc..

i just bought a dell laptop about 30 minutes ago ;). They are very good value for money and regarding all the "falling apart stuff" thats been mentioned all my friends haven't experienced that at all. Infact one of my friend's dell laptop randomly died after 2 years, dell completely replaced it with the latest model valuing at about $6000 for free.
