Well for me pressing Alt + 225 works fine when naming a folder.

It says alt 0160 not Alt + 255

And you can make folders really hidden by right clicking and selecting 'hide'
RE: no name folders by vaccination on 01-17-2007 at 07:30 PM

Read it properly and use Alt + 0160 (NOT Alt + 225)

create a new folder somewhere on your hard drive
when you name it hold down "Alt" and press "0160" this will create an invisible space so it will apper as if it has no name. Then right click and select “Properties”. Select the tab “coustimize” and select “change icon”. Scroll along and you should see a few blank spaces. Click on any one and click ok.

follow all the steps completely and correctly and it works fine, i've tested.

So.. how do you get it back? Is the only way to go to Folder Options then 'View hidden files or folders' ..?

RE: no name folders by vaccination on 01-17-2007 at 08:29 PM

No, just select it and change the icon back to a visible one 8-)

RE: no name folders by plus on 01-17-2007 at 08:30 PM

I think he means my way.. by clicking 'hide'..

You could search for it and click 'look for hidden files too' or click the main folder and hide everything, then unhide it.. I dont know of a more 'practical' way.

No. Delete the name then use alt+0610 and it will work.
RE: no name folders by vaccination on 01-17-2007 at 08:34 PM

okay, rename the folder, so take the 'j' out and then press the 'Alt' key and then press 0160 in sequence(all whilst holding Alt)

so essentially 'Alt+0(let go of '0')+1(let go of '1')+6(let go of '6')+0(let go of '0'(and then let go of alt too))

RE: no name folders by plus on 01-17-2007 at 08:45 PM

Ok this is what i do,

I right click the folder then go to rename,
Then i take the j away so there is nothing,
Then i hold alt then type (while holding alt) 0160 then i press enter.
When i press enter it gose back to j.

Nothing happed

RE: no name folders by vaccination on 01-17-2007 at 08:48 PM

Make sure your not holding alt when you press enter. If it still goes back to j then i dunno what is happening. Is it just a normal folder?

should work =s

Oh, it wont work then, Alt + <insert number> only works when you use the numberpad(usually on the right hand side of the keyboard, but there isn't allways one on some keyboards ¬¬)
RE: no name folders by plus on 01-18-2007 at 10:52 PM

oh...........lol

thanks :)

RE: no name folders by pedro_cesar on 01-19-2007 at 03:16 AM

if you're really worried u can always add a +s (system) atribute to your folder (files) so it's out of the index, u can't look for it in the search pane, and it won't be visible if u activate "Show hidden files and folders". U just open Command Prompt (Windows) go to the folder containing the folder-file u want add the +s attribute and write

attrib +s name_of_file.ext

if u wanna make it visible again just type it again but with -s or u go to folder options and activate "Show System Files" (which is less likely to be activated by mistake 'cuz it alerts u you're doing it)

RE: no name folders by plus on 01-19-2007 at 09:00 PM

so i just call the folder +sbob

No, he didn't say anything about renaming the folder. ¬_¬

He suggested using the attrib command to set the +s attribute.
RE: no name folders by plus on 01-19-2007 at 09:06 PM

How to i do that :p

RE: no name folders by pedro_cesar on 01-19-2007 at 10:37 PM

lets's supose u have a file named _file contained in _folder wich is in your desktop

1.- Open Command Prompt (type cmd in the "run" dialog box)
2.- Navigate to the _folder (Ex: cd C:\Users\Your_name\Destop\_folder)
3.- type attrib +s _file
4.- Go and realize the file "ain't" there.

NOTE: u can also make files hidden (the same option u got in the _file properties) by typin attrib +h _file and u can combine them like: attrib +s +h _file.

RE: no name folders by plus on 01-20-2007 at 03:03 PM

RE: no name folders by pedro_cesar on 01-20-2007 at 09:39 PM

It also works for folders, can u give me a description on the steps you are following? So I can see what u're doing wrong, 'cuz I'm guessing your problem is on Command Promt

RE: no name folders by plus on 01-20-2007 at 10:13 PM

ok i want the folder called classified1 to be +s

my user name is bob and the location is on my desktop

RE: no name folders by pedro_cesar on 01-23-2007 at 08:20 PM

RE: no name folders by pedro_cesar on 02-06-2007 at 07:52 PM

sorry it took me so long to answer but I've been doing some other things and haven't had much time for msg scripts. Assuming u have Xp installed and that your default drive is C: it would be like this:

attrib +s "C:/Documents and Settings/userName/Desktop/classified1"
