Hellows,

After CamForSam I started A 'Video' Blog sort of.

I was eventually going to switch that to SonicSam.Net

But then I realised that I would need a little more professional or simple way for this to work.

I then realised that it would need a new design or something. Maybe not a blog manager thing like WordPress.

For example. Check out RedVsBlue

It is a blog, pretty good, has comments with avatars which are also for their forum.

So like all that is connected.

Another thing is they have the Video section on their left. Which has the videos and those videos have seperate comments.

Their videos have the links for HiQuality and Low Quality (Well, HQ for Premium members, I wouldnt do that, or I would just release 1 edition)

I'd like something like that alot.

It would make things alot better.

Basically I'd really like to make SonicSam.Net more professionally. (Well, exluding the video I make (a))

I am looking for those 'open site designs' things. But those are not really what I want, but there could be one for me.

I might be willing to pay :p.

I am looking for some sort of thing that would just make everything simpler :p.

A blog which has a video section. And the video section could have the video links seperately and people could comment each video seperately, and comment the blog posts.

I don't really need a forum or anything.

Maybe RedVsBlue are using some sort of content management thing. If they are, I want to know what it is :p.

It's just, I hate now how the way my stuff works.

I got a Vlog which is not that good. SonicSam.Net's Design is atleast something but useless :p.

I dont really like the way people go to find videos by clicking the files tab, then going to the videos category.

Bah, I probably talk to much, maybe when dotLou wakes up he can explain better :p. He usually is good at that when I post nonsence :cheesy:

Just a little thing on the side, it'd be good if you stuck to valid xhtml (w3c, transitional). This ensures everything works the way it should.

You can still use WordPress and use a plugin like ( http://an-archos.com/anarchy-media-player ) to let you easily add videos to your posts *-).

Anyways, here is a more way I want it layout.

First we have the mail page.

Which has the blog etc :p.

Like I said in the picture, those videos are not direct download links.

They link to their own proper video page.

So yeah.

Pixel fonts suck when they are used all around. I do't want pixel fonts used for the whole site, maybe the logo at the top, but I'll design that logo :p.

Nathan: That second one is definitely an improvement, but it doesn't have quite the effect SonicSam.net needs. It's too "bloggy". Yes, there will be a blog, but what really should be sought out here is more of a professional website, like a corporation would use. Gives a nicer "show".
That last one is the same as the first one, but without the imaged background, and hell, that's a really bad choice of colour.

I like the idea for the video previews you put in your second one, so maybe include some variation of that in your final works. However, I like the header/navbar of your first one.

The video preview really should be kept in that sort of way, it's a good idea. Maybe, however, have it the same, but up and down, instead of side to side, on the left menu, like in my draft. The arrow style you used is also a great idea in my opinion.

Grey is a wonderful colour. Great for neutrality, and used often in websites. Too often. Blue, as well, but a different shade of blue can make all the difference. The grey is going to kill your design if you use it.

Keep at it, it's got a good start.

Edit: Remember, my comments are only that, comments. You don't have to follow them completely. It would be a good idea to take some from the post, but don't take all of it if you have a better idea. Suggestions and comments are there to help, but you don't have to go by exactly what I say. A perfect example of that is my draft, it's just that, a draft. Things need changing to make it perfect, many things. Improve upon it.

But blue is a cool colour :cheesy:. I like it, but I guess there is a good colour that can go good with the design. Maybe a darkish gray? With that cool style of lines in em, like Nathan already did?

I've tried to keep this simple and for some reason im proud of this one - the header needs improving maybe but i aint great at designing headers.

I can't send you via e-mail due to a screwed up in my internet. Apparently, WLMsgr is the only fully accessible network on my PC.

I find that dark blue suits more, but not solid dark blue for the background, I make it gradient, from top white to dark blue. Here's the screenshot [Image: interfacev01-update-gradbkgd.jpg]
But then again, I'm not sure whether you like it, so I made another one with a solid dark blue as the background. [Image: interfacev01-update-solidbkgd.jpg]. Later I thought, doesn't it look dark with black as the font color?... I changed it again, this time not the background, but the font color, and here it's. [Image: interfacev01-update-solidbkgd02.jpg]. It's not done yet though, after giving another thought, I tried the font color with the gradient background, and this is the result, [Image: interfacev01-update-gradbkgd02.jpg]
Those are the four I made. I couldn't decide on which will interest you. So there it's (: Pick one! :P

If you're referring to the page preview, then I have to say that of course I have to dependent on images. Don't blame me for doing so, I love to use CSS and all sort, however, the font I used for that layout can't be found on any Windows except Windows Vista.
If you're referring to that sonic image, then I have to say that I based on that particular image to create the layout. I did say that I didn't make that sonic, didn't I?
Please bare in mind that I'm no professional; this is simply something I do when I'm free. Otherwise, I won't ask Nathan's help to code.

Agreed, except the only thing that I dont like is the 2 of the diagonal pinstripe thing backgrounds (how do you explain them btw?) with the title bar and the actual background.

Oh and whatever design is chosen, can you please make it a dynamic width for people like me with really wide monitors, I hate seeing pages where over half of it is the background because they are accommodating 800x600 screens and mine is 1680 across.....
