Screen goes black! by Thor on 02-15-2007 at 06:08 AM
I've installed ubntu on my laptop, and when I did, I resized a partition which doesn't have anything to do with the booting.
Now, if I start my laptop, and choose ubuntu, the loader appears. When it's done loading, it disappears, and nothing happens. The screen is on, but black.
So happens if I try to boot Vista, the loader appears, then disappears, and the screen stays black.
I've tried running the Vista setup, but it doesn't start! And the ubuntu CD won't start either! (However the ubuntu CD gives some errors.)
I need my laptop very soon, so I'd really love if someone could help me.
And no, there are no recovery disks.
Thanks.

i had a recovery partition that was 6 gigs on my laptop. so i formatted it and had it as a porno drive xD and now i need to recover it ... but anyways.. can you explain the problem a little better? how new is the laptop and have u tried it with an external moniter? sounds like it could be your VGA card.

Well, now the problem is solved, maybe I should have edited it.
But thanks for actually replying.

how does resizing a partition effect the gpu? =/
but just to rule the gpu possibility out, try booting a linux live cd/dvd
dsl - very tiny image so you wouldnt waste time downloading a 4gig dvd image
you wasted 4 minutes of my life
and i didnt notice thread is old...

i'm sorry, but the problem is solved.
And, as I said, I did get any error trying to boot a linux live CD.
