The directory of your picture.
ex : 'Messenger.MyDisplayPicture = "C:\\gnagna\\pouet.png";'

To change the picture, set it to a valid path to an image file with the backslashes escaped ("\\" instead of "\"). You cannot remove the display picture with this property.

you may be able to by modifying the registry but I haven't tried that.

what is the registry value?

WLM does not look if a value has to change in the register, then how can it be done?

thank's

The registry doesn't have anything todo with it.

Your (and your contact's) display picture is stored in a physical file on your harddisk. And there is also an index file which holds the information to which DP belongs to what person and where to find it on disk. It is this file you need to alter. However, this is far from easy as the file is encoded and encrypted.

No. I know that the display picture path is not stored in the registry. However, there is an item in preferences that says "Show my display picture and allow others to see it". Since most Messenger preference entries are saved in the registry, disabling this in the registry may be able to remove it. However, I have not checked that this registry key exists, and you'd need to find a way to refresh that entry (possibly by just setting it to another file).

As I said, that has got nothing todo with the display picture image, hence my previous post to say it hasn't...

What that option does is simply showing the DP panel in the GUI of Messenger, it does not alter in any way your DP itself.

The option is called "Show my display picture and allow others to see it"...basically this would give the effect that there is no display picture.

Like I already said 2 times before.... the registry hasn't got anything todo with altering your DP/clearing it!

I think you are interpreting my statement wrong. What I am proposing doesn't alter the DP per say, but disables it, making it seem like there is none...

hi

i find the registry key for disable DP, But we are to do log out so that WLM disable DP :(

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\PerPassportSettings\xxxxxxxxx\]

"PerPassportAppSettings"=dword:00005001 (DP disable)
"PerPassportAppSettings"=dword:00004001 (DP enable)

"UTL"=hex:xx,xx,xx etc.... (directory of DP)

Regrettably it does not solve my problem to deactivate my DP without disconnecting.:(

ah, sorry about that... Anyways, what I tried to explain is that the registry doesn't have anything todo with what you want.

You wont find your solution in the registry (as you already found out yourself).

It can be disabled through the registry as I explained! However, Geo has proved that it takes effect only after a reconnection.

It still can, however, be disabled from the registry, but the conditions are not good for the situation.

:rolleyes: Which is what I've said from the start, 13 posts ago... :-/

Perhaps Cookie if you were more precise as to what you meant (as what you say is very ambiguous and does support the idea that you dont quite understand what Geo is attempting) from the start then you could have saved 13+1 posts.

How is that not precise or ambiguous? I can't post it any clearer. And if that wasn't clear than I'm sorry...
