Hello,
My WLM stopped working out of no where. Last night it was working fine ad this morning it didn't work at all. If I press alt-cntrl-del I see that it is running. But If I try to open it by shortcut it doesn't open and instead another instance of it starts running in the alt-cntrl-del dialog. At the same time, my hotmail started working extremely slowly like 5 minutes to load one page. I remember to fix that problem you had to have msn running during your time with Hotmail but now you'd never know that it was running unless you checked.
Windows XP, had msn live messenger and plus for a while now, nothing has been done since last night to change it.
When i go to shut down windows a dialog comes up and asks me to end task on windows live messenger.
Could someone help?

Well.. try going to Add/Remove Programs > Windows Live Messenger >  Change > Repair. Also remove any add-ons for WLM (including Plus! Live).

See if it works... then install Messenger Plus! Live, see if you get any problems.

If that doesn't work, try a System Restore. Start > Help & Support > System Restore and restore to a previous point when it was working.

I've uninstalled all versions of Msn now and reinstalled and I have done the repair but still nothing, I have no system restore point.



Edit!!!!! Hah I just repaired it again for the 4th time and it works Oh phew! I set a restore point now aswell haha.

This has happened to me quite a few times, here`s what I suggest you to do :

Try shutting down all the WLM processes and then only run one of it, if this doesn`t work, try restarting your pc.

Alas, not all is well. Hah well I tried to put up Plus again. It don't work anymore, but I figured it must be Plus doing the damage so I removed it and uninstalled and restarted and repaired the comp amyn many times now no luck. Bah, here I go again.

Do you have anything like sweetim or smiley central installed?

No I don't.

Did you have them at any stage?

any patches used?

are you using the latest versions of Windows Live Messenger and Messenger Plus! Live?

P.S may sound a bit repetitive but it's just cross checking I suppose

Hmm got an error finaly, the procedure entry point Creatvalue graphic DUI yadda yadda yadda could not be located in the dynamic link library MSNCore.dll.

only thing I can suggest is follow this to the letter and see if it helps you in any way shape or form.

Thank you mate, I got Windows Live messenger to work using that. I'm iffy on installing Plus again but thanks for all the help!
