Harry Potter in India by saralk on 04-04-2007 at 12:47 PM

I am going to be in India on an expedition when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is released, can someone from India tell me, on average how long after it is released in the UK/US is it released in India?

RE: Harry Potter in India by John Anderton on 04-04-2007 at 12:52 PM

The books are released the same day :P

RE: Harry Potter in India by Felu on 04-04-2007 at 01:06 PM

Getting a copy won't be easy for about 10 days after the release, unless you've make an order in advance :P.

RE: Harry Potter in India by John Anderton on 04-04-2007 at 01:09 PM

pfft. I know people who went, stood in the line (for about an hour in the morning atleast so that they could be the first ones to get the books :P) and got the book.
Pre-ordering shouldn't really be necessary unless you don't want to get there an hour or so before the store opens :P

Else you could wait a day or two and get a copy easily :P Unless you're one of those people who wants to be the first one to know the story it shouldn't be a problem. I'm just waiting for a friend to buy it, read it, give it to me without telling me the story and then reading it :)
Or maybe I'll be one of those people who stand in the line :o Who knows? ;)

RE: Harry Potter in India by saralk on 04-05-2007 at 08:32 AM

Just so you know how much I like this book, I am going on an expedition in India, we are going to a village to help build a school, then we are going on a 7 day trek around the himalayas.

We have pushed forward the day we leave Delhi for the trek so that we can all buy a copy of the book and read while were on expedition

Well my uni exams end in June so other than a few projects, I'm free in my vacation :P
I've been reading this series for ages now. I deserve to find out how it ends. And anyway, there are way elder people than me reading it. They weren't even kids like me when the book came out  When the first book came out, I was 9. I read it when I was around 12 or so I think. So that's fair enough :P Most of my high school class read the book :P They do even now :P
You really should ask those adults who are now 30+ :P They were 20+ when the book came out. They are the ones who should be questioned :P

Well i'll be in Delhi during the last week or so, but I think you live in Mumbai right?
RE: Harry Potter in India by Felu on 04-05-2007 at 02:51 PM

I live in east Delhi :P. The temperature easily goes above 40°C during May and June. Conditions might be worse in villages.

I go to India around that time every two years, it usually takes a few days to get used to the heat, but then i'm fine.

I'm just worried about my English team mates who think a British summer is hot.

That ought to be interesting :P Good luck and have fun :)
I may be in Delhi around May 4-5 but that's too soon for you, right? And plus, Felu might be too busy to come visit. If I am there, I might come visit him or something :)

pfft.. 'ship' writers and over obsessive fans are like that. Fans who read it for the fun and occasionally have a good debate on it ftw! :)

* John Anderton hopes Tashio isn't reading :P

With all due respect, its a good book. It's a hobby.

What makes us have no life? Is it the fact that we spend maybe one or two days every two years reading a book, or that we re-read an old book before we go to bed?

It's not as if Harry Potter consumes our life and we have no time for anything else as a result.

Some may say that spending a lot of your time looking after pets conumes a lot more time than reading a book and so you are the one with no life.
RE: Harry Potter in India by Fanta on 04-06-2007 at 08:42 AM

* Fanta offers Saral refuge on www.darkmark.com/forum with the other HP geeks

Bashing those books when you never read them is just lame... and after 7 years is getting kind of well... old too.  Perhaps HP bashers should be the ones getting a life.

On the book itself, either you like it or you don't. ZOMG! Live with it!

The children's edition doesn't contain the Potter/Umbridge sex scene in the room of requirement.
