I'm using 8.0 (8.0.0812.00), and my processor usage is insane when WLM is running. If I have two windows open, WLM skyrockets to around 80% usage. Just idling, no windows open, no nothing, it'll use about 15-20%. I tried searching for this, but I came up with nothing useful. Have there been any patches or fixes for this assclownery?

Have you tried with the latest version 8.1.0178.00 ?

and do you have transparency enabled. becuase this uses a lot of cpu resources

You could try using this Messenger Plus Live Script:

Its a fix, not completely but temporarily

Yea, I tried that script. It only made things worse. And no, transparency isn't enabled. The only things I have on it are plus! v4.20.0.262, Ev0 v1, and a couple scripts (background changer and Enhancer). Though I was getting this crap with a clean install too.
I've tried 8.1, and it's the same thing.

Try to disable your scripts. I think Enhancer could be the cause.

Woraug, what are your system specs?
looking at the thread title (if it isn't exaggerated) I guess they're ok, but you never know...

I have a rather low end system, but even so, I know it shouldn't be as bad is it is.

Isn't there a problem with high CPU usage with Ev0? try unistalling that and see if it makes a difference.

I noticed when upgrading to the official release of Windows Live Messenger 8.1, performance dramatically increased. I wrote a post about it as well. Although it only happens when Messenger is not in use i.e. when Messenger is running in the background.
