Hiding the Menu Bar (Window Frame) by Darkane on 05-06-2007 at 09:13 PM

I just noticed this, but I am unable to hide the Windows Live Menu Bar. The option was there, but now is gone. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Windows Live a few times now but the problem still exists. I have even installed the lower version (8.0) then reinstalled 8.1 and am still confronted with the same problem on both. This is a picture of the problem:

As you can see, the "Hide Menu Bar" Option is not there. Is there any way to go about fixing this?

Thanks.

Make your window a bit wider... You are hiding the grey arrow in the right top corner which hides the window border....

I am fairly sure that is not the problem as I've already maximized my Windows Live Client. To show you that I tried your suggestion:

Thank you though :)

In my version too, but some people reported it not always being visible in the top right corner when you make the window too small.

That arrow behaves sometimes in very mysterious ways...

Darkane, do you use any window manipulation software like WindowsBlinds or  other desktop enhancements? Have you Accessebility features turned on in Windows or something?

Are you using a skin or other Messenger patch?
Have you tried rebooting the PC? (some fixed it with this)
Tried reinstalling Messenger (the latest version)? (some fixed it with this)

EDIT:
searching forums....
Cannot Hide Menu Bar 1
Cannot Hide Menu Bar 2
Hide menu bar - not working???

etc..

Thanks CookieRevised... I tried searching the forums earlier but did not wind up with anything. I appreciate your help. In that thread you posted, this was the solution that worked (Just in case anyone else has the same problem)

Heya,

I found somewhere on the net, not sure where though, that the problem can also be solved by opening the magnifier, switching it on, and then back off. As absurd as it may sound, it actually worked for me! =0 btw, im talking about the magnifier under

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Accessibility > Magnifier

It was something like switching it on and back off again, although i don't remember it exactly......

Hope that makes life easier......

I appreciate it:
