How can i translate in .plsc format? by Iappo on 05-27-2007 at 12:02 PM

I'm new here, but I've translate a script in Italian.:P The script name is your mom!. I wanted to send it to the script database, but i don't know how to translate in .plsc format. I read Patchou's file, but i didn't understand it, I'm not so good in English. Can someone teach me in a simple way? Thanks a lot.

normally there is an xml that needs to be translated...best contacting the script developer to see if he/she will allow you to do it (I'm prettey sure they will) and then they will tell you how to do it and what needds to be translated.

How do I do that you ask? just find the related script's forum thread, post there and wait for a response.

Just make a zip out of all the files in the scripts folder and rename it to .plsc instead of .zip

By either searching the forums or the scripts database like you did to find the script.

Ezra told you to change it to .zip so you could use WinZip to extract the contents of the script and translate what the developer tells you.

I'm kinda at a loss at what's been said in this thread. Out of your first post I understand that you downloaded this script and installed it into msgplus!

Then you opened the files in the directory of this script and changed some of the files by translating them.

Now you want to make a new .plsc file out of them so other people can install your translated script?

First I would indeed contact the original script author to ask if it's ok if you translate it.

Now about the technical problems you are facing.

The script has some files that it needs to run, I'm guessing you have these files, probably one or more .js files that have the actual code and one or more .xml files.

Msgplus uses one of these .xml files to recognize the script inside the zip/plsc file. This file is called ScriptInfo.xml. This file is probably in the directory of the script with the other files.

If this file is here and after the modifications you made to the script and it still works you can just zip the entire directory and rename it to .plsc, if this file does not exist you need to create it yourself.

You can find the full documentation about this file in the scripting documentation also available for download at the scripts database.

Here is a simple way for plus! to recognize the script:

code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>
<ScriptInfo xmlns="urn:msgplus:scripts" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <Information>
        <Name>Script Name</Name>
        <Description>Script Description</Description>
        <Version>Version of the script</Version>
    </Information>
</ScriptInfo>

Make sure you save this file as Unicode (UTF-16/USC-16)

I hope you can create the .plsc file with the information I have given you, if you still can't make it work we need more information about what you have done and what exactly is going wrong.

EDIT: Fixed formatting problems.

Ezra, i've done that. Maybe i did one error. I'll check and after, if the script doesn't go again, i'll send you an e-mail with the script folder, so u canm help me. Do you agree?

I don't exactly know what you did, but it works fine here...

Are you sure you made a .zip file and not a .rar file and renamed that?

Another thing I noticed is that you didn't really translate everything, you only translated the swears, it might be nice for other people that the menu and the about screen are also translated.

Anyhoo, here's the packed plsc file: File Deleted as requested by Iappo.

Edit: Deleted file as requested by Iappo.

ok ezra.. i did a rar file... i though it was the same... thanks a lot... however, i know i just translated the swears, this is my first script experience, so i didn't want to did a fuss.

Ah, good to hear that was the problem.

Maybe the Documentation could be modified a bit to make sure people don't confuse different archive types with .zip.
