Moving contacts - Printable Version

I have just made a new account for my boyfriend, since his last one was over four years old, and childish. I was wondering if there was a way to move contacts from one account to the next. So that I don't have to go through adding them all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

on the old account, go to 'contacts' menu -> 'save instant messaging contacts...' and save the file somewhere
then log in to the new account and go to 'contacts' -> 'import instant messaging contacts...' and select the file you've saved in step one.

Okay that didn't exactly work. Do I have to add them all to Windows Live Messenger too?? Because they were added but it doesn't send a message for people to add the contact. I am confused. lol.

Make sure your contacts have checked the option in WLM's Options "Notify me when people add me to their contact lists".

I managed to figure it out. His information did work, it just needed a couple more steps. Thanks for all the help.
