Hello,

it looks like I need some vacations. The previous versions of Messenger Plus! Live had a bug that caused the contest icon in the contact list to vanish after June 5th. To fix this problem, you’ll need to install the new Messenger Plus! Live version 4.23, now available in the download section. Sorry for the inconvenience (to make up for this, I’ll make sure that the contest is prolonged a little more :-)).

My icon is still there too... must have been some kind of weird error, if it only happens on certain machines (maybe only certain Messenger versions?).

it only happened after messenger was restarted after the june 5th

the update will fix the problem

I do it now for completeness, (it's becoming a bit of a version archive as well now), but with major releases, the Messenger Plus servers have failed under the massive load. I've only uploaded them to The Pirate Bay since v4.20 (6th anniversary) and the Messenger Plus servers coped fine anyway. My torrents still get about 100 downloads each time, so there is some interest in them. It's also an alternative download method.

Dont think so, wasnt there quicker in the first release of Messenger Plus Live itself? :P Didnt even notice the bug to be honest patchou but congrats on quick fix :P

Both me and my brother logged in our own Windows accounts after 5th June and saw Contest had been disabled. Then I have installed 4.23 on my own Windows account, and contest button came back for me. But in my brother's Windows account it was still disabled. We manually delete ContestEnabled key from registry but this may be a really bad problem for some people who are not familiar with computers very much. What can be done? Simply MsgPlus! 4.23 should be installed on every Windows accounts which Contest button is disabled.

Why update from a 4.22 version all the way to a 4.23 version? Why not just make it a minor update so it's 4.22.xxx or whatever.

That said, I'm not completely familiar on how the "updating number game" works, so that would be nice to know how...

It probably would make some sense, but in Messenger Plus' history, it's hasn't been done that way. There are almost no updates that have been released with only the last version number segment changing, and there has been an update that kept the exact same version number as the previous release as well.

I guess that the larger change in the version number makes the update clearer to more people, as with some programs, the last segment of a version number is practically useless (I imagine that this is the case for Messenger Plus users, perhaps the full number is useful for development purposes).

NB that this is not how the updating number game works, it's my personal interpretation only.
