Nope, because when tabbed conversations is enabled, all conversations share one icon.

Not here, I just checked it fast though.

Is there any chance to show the icon of the contact is shown in the window?

It does work with tabbed convos.
Tabbed convos don't share the same icon, they all have their own icon (just as they all have their own title).

Each time you click on a tab the other windows are hidden and the one from the contact you've clicked is unhidden and put in front. All the chat windows are still individual windows. Plus! only adds the tabs on top of the activated/focussed window and shows them in the same place.

There is a closing bracket missing (this was one of the things I listed in the PM I've sent him two days ago btw)...

-----------------------------------------------

@Veggie: sorry for the (too) long wait, I've finally sent you the email I promissed...

PS: In the version tag of scriptinfo.xml you state that this latest version is 1.10, yet in the source comments you state 1.1... This can cause much confusion as to what verison it actually is. So make sure you at least use the same version strings everywhere. The string "1.1" is not the same as the string "1.10", and can cause confusion.

Version 1.10 (version 1 build 10) is not the same as version 1.1 (version 1 build 1)...

See: "Version Numbers" for further discussion...

it's not working with my tabbed conv., it always shows a green "online" like icon.

RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by riahc4 on 06-12-2007 at 02:49 PM

Can we run this script and Stuffplug at the same time?

This is not made for people with tabbed conversations enabled.
I dont see why you would want to use it with it.

Unfortunatly that is not within my current scripting skills...

RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by riahc4 on 06-12-2007 at 08:42 PM

The icons are sort of small compared to the normal ones

Cause someone said that this script works with tabbed conversations.

[offtopic];o you can probably recreate StuffPlug (except in Script form! :P)

excellent script.

I said it, and yes it does work for tabbed conversations. See my previous post why...

Again, tabbed chat windows are still normal chat windows too, with  everything normal chat window have. When tabbed chatting is enabled Plus! will 'simply' add a buttonbar on the current active chat window and hide all the other chat windows. When you click on a tab on this this buttonbar, Plus! will hide the current chat window and unhide the chat window from the contact you whish. In essence, tabbed chatting in Plus! is nothing more than the hiding and unhiding of normal chat windows...

ermm, that is exactly what your script already does...

---------------------------------------------------------------

As for using this script together with StuffPlug, why? If you use StuffPlug you already got this feature too, so enable it in StuffPlug instead and remove this script. It makes no sense to run two programs to do the same thing.

PS: roflmao456, no, you can't do everything with scripting what StuffPlug does

---------------------------------------------------------------

PS: May I note that this script is for setting the title bar icon for the chat windows. That means the window's title bar (and thus borders) must be visible in order to see the icons (if you use WLM8.0)...

Hey!
Why this script is not at the script database? ^o)

I've search like hell for that there, and nothing appeared.

This script is pretty useful.

Thanks a lot for this ;)

Restart WLM after the installation

Works well (Y) Great work:P

RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by Matti on 11-16-2007 at 05:28 PM

This is very weird! I installed the script but it didn't work! :S

After some analysis, I figured out that when extracting the icon, the function returns 0 and thus no icon is set. When I tried to open the DLL in a resource editor (Restorator 2007 / Resource Hacker), it couldn't open it. So, I assume that the DLL file is corrupted or doesn't work correctly here. Any change of fixing this?

Windows Vista Ultimate x64

Hey (Im back :) )

I really like this script so im asking please update it for 9.0

Before anyone says anything, yes I am a official beta tester.
Before anyone says anything else, as a beta tester I believe that the product should be tested in all possible enviroments. This includes with or without addons, with or without patches, and with or without trying every possible combination of situations that can happen.

If you dont like my ideology, then fine. I dont care. But tell that to Microsoft who I have been beta testing products for about 5 years. They have never complained.

RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by CookieRevised on 12-14-2007 at 10:44 PM

[SPAM GRR MODE]

You don't need every possible script just to test Plus!'s compatibility with WLM9.

And AFAIK, MS does not recommend testing WLM9 with Plus!. Nobody does, since you wont know if it is a Plus! bug or a WLM bug.

And as far as I can read the source from this script, it is totally version independant. It doesn't need any update at all; have you even tried it before posting?

Yea I tried it its enabled and it doesnt work.

Thats just my ideology. Like I said if you dont agree fine but respect it.
RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by CookieRevised on 12-15-2007 at 12:50 AM

Then you are very special and you have another WLM9 than me, Sunshine, and a whole bunch of other people.....

EDIT: Tbh, there is nothing in the script which would make it not work... In fact, it will even work on any other window from any program with just a minor change, it's that universal...

All it does is checking if a chat window has openend, if so, change the window's icon. That's plain basic API work, not fancy at all, and totally and completely version independant...

It works here too.

I really suggest you test the scripts first, and not post a request to update every Plus! script as you did when MP!L 4.50/WLM 9.0 was released, when those scripts worked perfectly fine.

RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by Jesus on 12-17-2007 at 11:15 AM

Nice script, I like it

I have a few remarks and questions though...

quote:

I have to (partially) disagree here,
It does work with tabbed chats for the title bar icon.
However, the icon on the taskbar button is not changed. It's still this green online icon with the text balloon over it. Stuffplug has the same problem.

StuffPlug changes the icon next to your contact's nickname in the convo windows (top left, title bar not showing), any chance this script will do the same in the near future?

That requires skinning....

It changes the image of that image object. StuffPlug has ways to access those objects. But since all objects and controls in Messenger are windowless, you can't get the handle to it and thus this isn't possible with scripting.

It works with tabbed chats. The purpose of this script is to change the title bar icon.

Which results in the taskbar button icon to be changed also, but that is actually a side-effect, not the main purpose. Since that icon is the same as the one used on the title bar, by default.

However, with tabbed chats, Plus! takes all the chat windows and puts them into an invisible window. It is this invisible window which makes tabbed chats possible and which 'controls' the tabs. Thus, it is the icon of that invisible window you'll see on the taskbar.

To change this you need to do something like I've done with my "Tabbed Chat Taskbar Button Changer" script. And, to do it properly, it would probably also require you to catch window focus changes, which is AFAIK not possible with scripting.

;)

explained before in this thread I think

Cookie, Plus! was updated this year; Is this script still impossible to update for WLM9/Vista?

RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by CookieRevised on 03-27-2009 at 07:54 PM

Who said it was impossible to update? It never stopped working since it was first created.... It never needed an update to make it compatible.

(although the DLL which contains the icons might cause some issues on a 64bit OS)

I've gotten it to work properly here by cleaning it up a bit.

There were several problems with it, but the one you're probably all experiencing was that it wasn't in DOS\Windows format.

EDIT: Alright then :)

Not working here.

Because that is the very first version ever released. Do not use that as it is full of issues (see this thread). There were already like 3 updates or so after that.

No.

Version +1.02 will be posted soon.
RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by -dt- on 03-29-2009 at 01:46 AM

Since veggie isnt around that often anymore, ill post this build, there is a new version of this script coming... just uni assignments atm :(

I've attached a working older version of this script, and in 1-2weeks ill post a new version which changes the icon based on if the contact is typing :)

RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by CookieRevised on 03-29-2009 at 02:20 AM

-dt-, that is the exact same version posted by Chris4 yesterday, version 1.0 which has issues.

I already gave Veggie the latest existing version (1.02 - and with some added stuff (user email in window title bar)) after talking to him before I posted in this thread yesterday.

But I refuse to upload the latest version unless Veggie says I can, and he didn't explicity said I could post it. He simply asked if I could upload it to him so he can have a look at it. That was yesterday...

So to avoid further confusion, mixing up versions, etc, etc, let's all be a bit patient until Veggie posts here again or if someone hears from him again.

The latest version, for now, is 1.02, which is clearly stated in the description when you import and in the script itself. Anything less has issues...

RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by -dt- on 03-29-2009 at 02:36 AM

oh heh, must have been using an old version for a while ;<

RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by CookieRevised on 03-29-2009 at 02:42 AM

apparently....

Although, now that I look at it more closely you did add (the beginning of?) the typing feature here. So this is a version between 1.0 and 1.01... Talking about confusion (hence why I don't like uploading other people's scripts without the approval of the original author and certainly not when they are 'custom' modified).

But since this is like a kind of co-op script and I worked on it too, I do like to give you the link to "1.02c - bis", my (second) modified version of Veggie's 1.02 version. Maybe you can add the typing thingie in that and send it to Veggie for 'approval'. See pm....

RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by Veggie on 03-29-2009 at 11:29 AM

A suggestion from me: Since this is based on Veggie's version but isnt his, maybe a new thread should be made.

(Of course giving Veggie credit for the original version)

RE: [release] Status Icon Version 1.02 by T-PO on 03-29-2009 at 05:36 PM

Sorry guys, but I'm getting lost in this discussion....

My suggestion:
Veggie, can you please upload your latest version to the script database with the correct version number (so we can update using /check updates)

If other people want to add features to it, please do so and add this also to the database...

My 2 cents...

Regards,

T-PO

I dont think you are the only one :P

Ill try to fill you in:

Veggie is pretty busy at the moment so his original Status Icon project is pretty much dead right now.
Now CookieRevised/-dt- have made his/their own version based on Veggie's version (Veggie's version was also made thanks to coop from Cookie). Cookie (for strange reasons because I dont see where the problem is in releasing his version and just saying thanks to Veggie or based on Veggie's script, etc is) won't release it until he gets the OK from Veggie (which he has) and -dt- I have no clue how he fits into the story.

So right now its up to Cookie to upload the version or not (Id start a new thread as this one is kinda getting outta hand)

The sole reason I didn't wanted to upload the latest version before is exactly because this can lead to what you all see now:

people starting to upload or referencing random stuff without knowing the version, without even checking !!!!! (or they would have seen that those are very old versions), and without the original author's approval...

Sorry, but uploading all those depricted versions together with not reading posts made it "confusing", nothing else. If people were a bit more patient and/or checked what they actually uploaded then this wouldn't have happened...

You simply do not upload a script which is from someone else without the approval of the original author, period.

So, strange reason? I don't think so... Extremely clear reason me thinks...

And creating other threads will certainly not make things any more clear... learn to read a thread instead, so that 'new' threads about the exact same thing to make things supposidly less confusing don't need to be created in the first place...

I'll upload version 1.02 when I have time, or when -dt- or Veggie didn't uploaded it in the mean time....

[/agitated]

The Linux kernel (as you know) started with people uploading modified versions of other peoples versions (of course giving credit)

There is no "law" that says not to do it. I understand if Veggie makes a 1.03, give it to you, and you choose not to upload it because he said so but even then if you do, there is no law that is against this.

I ment another thread as in to announce your version.

I find it curious that you don't have the time to upload a simple script to the DB but have been able to make 13080 posts since 03. But oh well, Ill wait and thank you for making/uploading it.

No there is no law, but you simply don't do it ffs!

Be my guest and upload modified versions of all the scripts in the database (giving credit or not) and let's see how long it takes for people getting mad at you (again) and starting to insult you (again)....

yeah, strange isn't it.... now let's make it 13081 posts... and still no upload... oh boy, the world we live in.... maybe there should be a law against that....

You ignored my comment about the Linux kernel...
And I really dont give a fuck about people getting mad at me or insulting me etc.
Id rerelease this script in a sec if I had time or knowledge to rewrite it and you think people would get mad/insult me for releasing a working version? Think Cookie think...

Yeah....and Im going to lose sleep over it.
If you wanna ruin it for me (and the rest of the users that want this script), go ahead. I think you are going to piss off alot more people this way than rereleasing someone else's script but oh well, whatever floats your boat Cookie...

Start thinking yourself (although you don't need to think a lot because it is VERY obvious about what I'm talking about). I'm clearly talking about the people who CREATED the original scripts in the first place....

1) if people feel that way then they they might have you to thank for it.
2) If people want, they can PM me for the script.
3) Unlike some, RIAHC4, I do have morals and values and one of them is that I do RESPECT what someone asks me to do, or asks me NOT to do. Something you might try for a change too, you might be surprised with the result.
