I've tried the "official" one from bbc.co.uk, but it's slow and has an ad on it. So is there a good version that uses OpenGL or something? or is there anyone here who is good with OpenGL?

Not really.

I'm looking for something which is basically an OpenGL rendering of the time vortex like in the opening and closing credits. I think I did see something like it in Ubuntu, but as far as I can see it hasn't been ported and anyway it did random textures (as well as none at all, which isn't really much of a scrensaver then is it? A blank screen, wowee. Very exciting.).
