anyone know how to convert .mkv to dvd format w/ the embedded subs? i have a 2+ gb .mkv video and would like it burned as a dvd.

forget it, i didnt realise dvd players cant take 720p. :sad:

uh of course they can :p

edit: even if they cant converting it will lower the resolution :p

my player cant. it refuses to play anything higher than 640. (well avi files anyways)

Mencoder will transcode about anything ;)

ConvertXtoDVD is such an excellent choice. I could not believe that this simple software could have been so powerful. Hi all... :wave:

DVD Flick will do it perfectly.

Not too sure about the subtitles, I've never used them actually. It does support Matroska and AVC at least.

The max resolution for DVD-Video is 720x576, so you won't get HD, but with a HD source like you have you'll get a pretty damn good DVD. If the video is 16:9 widescreen, the DVD will have no letterboxing, it'll be encoded using the full 720x576 and stretched to 16:9 on playback. Any wider than that, and you will get encoded letterbox bars.
