MSN 7.5 personal message issue by kryp2nyt on 07-17-2007 at 04:45 AM
Hi
I run MSN 7.5 on Windows Vista Business.
The problem is, the moment I sign out, all the personal messages of my contacts are gone !
They don't remain even after re-sign in, what to do?

How can you tell that the personal messages of your contacts are gone if you can't even see your contacts at all when you sign out?

So how do you get them back?
I think I've either completely misunderstood you or you're not describing your problem correctly =/

Thanks for your prompt response
Okay here we go again :
I am signed in normally and see all my contacts normally along with THEIR personal messages.
The moment I sign out, and re-sign in, I take a look at all my contacts, and ALL THEIR PERSONAL MESSAGES are completely lost! Am talking of course, about offline contacts, as online ones are still displaying their personal messages normally, because they are online.
When an contact goes offline, his/her personal message remains cached normally in my messenger, but when I sign out, re-sign in they are gone.
Thats all simply put
This option is unchecked!
and besides, only one plugin is installed, that is stuffplug.

It could also be you have this option enabled. It tells WLM not to store your Personal Message, so it dissapears everytime you log out

First things first
This issue has got little todo with Messenger Plus! though.
Messenger Plus! is not a replacement for Windows Messenger, MSN Messenger nor for Windows Live Messenger.
Messenger Plus! is an addon for Windows Messenger, MSN Messenger and/or Windows Live Messenger, and only adds some extra features (eg: custom sounds, some commands to use, etc), nothing more.
You still use, sign in and chat with Windows Messenger, MSN Messenger or Windows Live Messenger.
Therefore, this thread has been posted in the wrong subforum and should have been posted in the forum: "MSN/Windows Messenger".
Though, you don't need to repost it, I have requested to move this thread
Anyways, as for the issue...
This might be because of several reasons. Without further and more details we can't give a proper solution (if there is one at all) and only suggest general things:
- It can be caused by server errors or a server lag. Lately there are problems with some messenger servers. Nothing much can be done, and you simply need to wait this out.
- It can be caused by a script or plugin you have installed. eg: Messenger Plus! Live (used together with Windows Live Messenger) is able to run scripts. Some script manipulate the personal message. So make sure you don't have any such scripts installed. If you have Messenger Plus! Live, you can check this by going to Plus! > Preferences > General > Scripts. Disable them.
EDIT: Felu beated me, oh well

Actually speaking, am not using WLM, am using MSN 7.5.
Secondly, as stated earlier, the shared computer option under privacy is NOT checked, so its not this thats generating my problem.
