How do i stop my friends from pinging me? Or rather, how do I prevent my computer from responding to their pings?

PingReply is the key you need.

Go to Start > Run > Type regedit and press Enter. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Patchou\Messenger Plus! Live\your@email.com\Preferences and set the value of PingReply to 0.
More details about the Messenger Plus! registry settings here. Please be careful when editing the Windows registry.

If you are using Messenger Plus! Live, you can look at this page, which contains a list of "hidden" registry settings. The one you need is "PingReply".

If you are not comfortable editing the registry yourself, you can always use Messenger Plus! Tweak Live which allows you to change all the settings listed there using a simple screen.
