My External Hard drive crashes windows explorer when....putting files (folders, music, movies etc) on there, its only been happening recently and ive formatted the external hd but still doesnt work 
Any way to stop it from doing that?

For how long do you have that HDD?
Most probably you'll need to replace the drive.
