Chat Logging bugs by Sombrefloe on 08-28-2007 at 09:21 PM
If you are talking to a contact both in private and in a conversation with multiple people, chat logging is now not in real-time as it used to be.
Messenger Plus (and maybe some earlier versions of Messenger Plus Live) used to save both conversations with about 1 to 5 minute periods. In Messenger Plus Live 4.23.276 it saves them as two whole seperate conversations with only one date-stamp each. To clarify things,
this is what it used to look like:
.--------------------------------------------------------------------.
| Session Start: 27 May 2006 Saturday
One-contact conversation
.--------------------------------------------------------------------.
[00:50:14] ...
[00:51:18] .....
[00:51:25] ....
.--------------------------------------------------------------------.
| Session Start: 27 May 2006 Saturday
Multiple-people conversation
.--------------------------------------------------------------------.
[00:51:15] ...
[00:51:33] ....
[00:51:33] .......
.--------------------------------------------------------------------.
| Session Start: 27 May 2006 Saturday
One-contact conversation
.--------------------------------------------------------------------.
[00:51:49] ....
[00:52:01] ................
[00:52:21] .............
This is what it looks like now:
.--------------------------------------------------------------------.
| Session Start: 15 August 2007 Wednesday
Multiple-people conversation
.--------------------------------------------------------------------.
This log goes for about three hours..
.--------------------------------------------------------------------.
| Session Start: 15 August 2007 Wednesday
One-contact conversation
.--------------------------------------------------------------------.
This log starts after the above log is finished, yet it is composed of a single sentence relevant to the above log's first three lines
I think this bug also causes (or vice-versa) the "the multiple logs for one person bug" as the latter happens only when there is a multi-people conversation with that contact.
There's also a second bug of lesser importance I'd like to report. Sometimes the chat logger does not record the first thing said in a conversation. Like when the conversations is like this:
-Hey
-Hi
The log looks like this:
-Hi
That is all, thanks in advance.

Another problem with chat logging is when you are talking with a contact and he/she is talking with another person (who isn't your contact). All message that my contact receive from his friend, while is talking with me, appear at my chat logging!!!

That bug been around like 3 or 4 last releases at least...
It usually misses the first thing only if another person begins the conversation. Not sure if it have ever missed anything I've said.

??? That would be impossible.
It would imply that Plus! spies on what your contact is saying to his contacts. I don't see how this is possible. Plus! can't see what somebody else is doing on his Messenger.
Are you sure that you or your contact don't have any obscure script running?
