well l8ly my computer has been going weird on me when i play games. while i am playing, when i move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard, it takes about 2 seconds to respond, like if im playing Warcraft III: Frozen Throne and i press ENTER and type something it will start to type about 1 second after i started. and i know this is not lag as the graphics are perfect. e.g. i was getting a average frame rate of about 100.8 fps on Counter Strike Source with full graphics, yet it kept on not responding, and when i was walking i couldnt move the mouse. and i know its not from low ram because this even happens on some flash games (which dont require much RAM). i just recently downloaded my mouse and keyboard drivers (keyboard one wouldnt install, but the mouse on did and the mouse still doesnt work) RE: computer problems by ShawnZ on 09-08-2007 at 04:32 AM is the monitor turned on? RE: computer problems by Th3rmal on 09-08-2007 at 04:41 AM LOL what do u mean by that, off course is turned on i can see the image it just takes a while to respond RE: computer problems by ryxdp on 09-08-2007 at 05:13 AM
Look at your CPU usage and processes while this is happening and see if a particular process is causing the problem. RE: computer problems by Th3rmal on 09-08-2007 at 05:21 AM thanks i'll try that, and i dont want to format my computer anywayz cus my dad wont let me, cus hes got important documents on this comp RE: computer problems by Eddie on 09-08-2007 at 05:54 AM

RE: computer problems by vaccination on 09-08-2007 at 07:13 AM Perhaps something is eating up your RAM RE: computer problems by Th3rmal on 09-08-2007 at 07:50 AM umm i dont think so because it is consistent with pretty much any game, and the only thing that slows my computer down that much would be java RE: computer problems by Verte on 09-08-2007 at 08:44 AM Interesting. I think we've all had similar lag at some point, but for different reasons. The last time I recall significant clunkyness, I was using ZoneAlarm on XP, on a fairly dated laptop. Disabling AV and killing any orphaned or pointless processes [such as update schedulers] helps a lot. Making sure you have plenty of disk space for swap, and that the swap is free of fragmentation, can help too. |
