Hello,

it’s now official, the next public version of Messenger Plus! will be labelled Messenger Plus! Live 4.50. This new version will be a major refresh of the software, the most important update since the release of 4.00 more than a year ago. Messenger Plus! has a new look, new windows, new features and even the web site will get an overhaul. Most of the code work is now complete, GFDD is working hard on the new visuals and the first beta version will soon be sent to the internal beta-test team (sorry, the team is currently closed to new admissions).

As announced previously, the new version is scheduled be released at the end of this month but a release in early November is not out of the question. That’s the price to pay to get quality software that will improve your Messenger experience, not degrade it. Also, on a more personal note, I just realised that by the time the public build gets uploaded to the servers, 5 months will have passed since the last release. Is it me or does time go faster and faster, year after year? I easily spend 6 days a week doing my job and still, it always seems like I don’t have time to do everything I want. After more than 6 years, I really must be a slow software programmer, either that or I should consider hire someone to help… anybody reading this good at C++? ;-)

New features and screenshots will be revealed later this month. Messenger Plus! is still Messenger Plus! though, don’t set your expectations too high, it’s still the same software, just with an additional 5 month of work done to it and one new feature in particular that promises to be as popular as scripts currently are. In the meantime, thank you all for your continuous support and for allowing me to live my passion for another year.

I can't wait for this new version and i hope the new feature is a sidebar gadget or the ability listed on the main site: having more than one tabbed window.

And if you're changing stuff, just please leave the contacts on desktop feature alone, it's the main reason i haven't given up on WLM

I hope this new feature is an overhaul on the color engine thingy. It would be nice to use color in my name, while having people without Plus! beable to see my plain name, with no color (instead of the codes).

Would you be able to give us a translation, I understand or can guess most of it but i wouldn't mind it to be accurate.

My guess.... something about becoming a programmer.  You think C++ is difficult(?). And I have barely any idea about the last sentence, I used to know the first  words but forget :P

I have to agree, time does seem to go a lot faster.

I can program C++. :D (Okay okay so maybe I just want a peek at the code + app before it's released, but I really can program C++ w/ the Windows API :)).

Very pleasant news indeed, but i wonder why to rush with the new gui? Current one is more than beautiful. If you're raising the bar continuosly, the meaning of perfect must be redefined. :P

Anyways, i think Patchou does deserve some more days off. And i... i can't wait to see the new beta. ^^

You assume that these conversations are occuring over Messenger. Maybe he's in a support channel, is a member of another discussion boards, etc.

What I understood from the sentence on the website is one tabbed window and many normal windows, not many seperate tabbed windows, like 2 tabs in one of them, 5 tabs in another one.

Patchou tries to not have the likes of email and PM in a public area so he doesn't get spammed by requests from him.  If you have something to talk about then the forum is a good place to post, I'm sure it can't be too personal and you may actually get a quicker response from another member of the forum.

i don't think so. usually, translators receive only the last beta version, a week or so before the release. So i don't think Patchou will send beta versions to unofficial translators :)

There are many active members who deserve beta testing privileges because of their efforts they put into the forum.  However, I don't think this makes a difference at the moment and I wouldn't think that Patchou would change the current beta testing team until version 5 (which I assume to be a while off yet).

Please be considerate towards Patchou as he is very busy coding for us (or I hope he is at least :tongue:) and he doesn't need to be bombarded with people asking for eta testing status (especially those who are only new to the forum and have not contributed much at all).

This will help If you want to talk one of them clicking direct from the Contact List Clean-up window... to ask for example why he/she deleted you... or to talk someone you haven't talked for awhile... so on...

is very annoying have to check if they are online in the contact list instead of there directly...
