Is it possible? I really want Ubuntu on my IBM ThinkPad T20 (which doesn't have a CD drive), so I've planned it out like this: RE: install ubuntu from USB drive by floppy by prashker on 10-04-2007 at 11:08 AM

If you lived closer, I'd lend you my CD drive RE: install ubuntu from USB drive by floppy by RaceProUK on 10-04-2007 at 07:27 PM Ubuntu is based on Debian. RE: install ubuntu from USB drive by floppy by ryxdp on 10-04-2007 at 09:58 PM
The thinkpad only takes floppy drives, I tried putting a DVD ROM in there once, it didn't work. code: Or something like that. RE: install ubuntu from USB drive by floppy by roflmao456 on 10-04-2007 at 10:28 PM
well if it's connected to the internet then... RE: install ubuntu from USB drive by floppy by ryxdp on 10-04-2007 at 11:26 PM I've tried Wubi, but it gets stuck when it tries to download the iso. RE: RE: install ubuntu from USB drive by floppy by Verte on 10-07-2007 at 07:34 PM
quote: Yes, but still, it is not Debian. You can, of course, access Ubuntu packages from Debian and vice versa, but Debian has a much neater and more complete base system, and stricter package QC [IIRC]. + quote: Curious. There's no point in having a swappable bay if you can only have the one thing in there. I've a T20, and the DVD-ROM works fine. @Verte: the bay also takes Li-Ion batteries designed to fit in there, and the DVD-ROM I mentioned should have actually worked. I opened up the lappy and afaik it was fine. I may have to borrow my dad's DVD-RW from his new laptop and see if it fits instead. That might make everything a whole lot easier. |
