RE: Add/Remove Programs by andrewdodd13 on 10-11-2007 at 07:57 AM Nope, never. I think it has something to do with Autoplay or that it's sooo much easier just to double click an icon than go through Control Panel, etc. RE: Add/Remove Programs by NiteMare on 10-11-2007 at 08:05 AM
quote:exactly, i'm just thinking, who ever uses it?, if anyone they didn't add that in to vista did they? RE: Add/Remove Programs by andrewdodd13 on 10-11-2007 at 09:17 AM
I have no idea. It wouldn't seem likely. RE: RE: Add/Remove Programs by ryxdp on 10-11-2007 at 09:19 AM

quote:"Safely remove hardware" is good to use with things like USB thumb drives. It makes sure all files are closed and any all write buffers are flushed. Just yanking the drive is usually not a problem because Windows defaults for removable drives were set anticipating people like you, but in some circumstances, it may result in data loss. quote:No, although there is at least one situation I can think of where it actually does something. When you run Terminal Services (Windows server set up to allow multiuser remote desktop access), there are two modes -- user and install. All logins, including administrator, default to user mode. You are supposed to put your session in install mode before you install any software (this affects how the registry entries and system files are modified by the installation). That can be done from command prompt, but when you use Add in Add/Remove Software, install mode gets set automatically. RE: Add/Remove Programs by Chancer on 10-11-2007 at 02:38 PM

I never even knew lol RE: Add/Remove Programs by kao on 10-11-2007 at 07:35 PM If Modifying installations to add stuff (e.g. modify Office installation to add Frontpage, Access etc) counts then yes, at work. quote:well it is call ADD or remove programs RE: Add/Remove Programs by MeEtc on 10-11-2007 at 08:14 PM In Vista, its called Programs and Features, but I'm unsure if there's still the Add option RE: RE: RE: Add/Remove Programs by rav0 on 10-11-2007 at 11:51 PM
I use the applet to add programs that are components of Windows (like the games and stuff) that it asks you to put in the Windows CD for (then because I don't want to look for my CD I give up). quote:I do it now because my U3 Cruzer tells me that I should have when I don't. quote:There's a link to a brief Help topic that explains how to install programs. It explains how to install new software from a cd or dvd, or after you've downloaded it. RE: Add/Remove Programs by Chris4 on 10-12-2007 at 07:59 PM They should remove the add feature and rename it Repair/Remove programs. RE: Add/Remove Programs by Nagamasa on 10-12-2007 at 10:42 PM
quote: Don't make it seem like a bad things. ReadyBoost demands you to use the safely remove hardware feature, or else the space of the cache goes to nowhereland, and you'll have to format. RE: Add/Remove Programs by prashker on 10-12-2007 at 11:01 PM
quote: Please tell me you uninstalled the U3 software, yuck . I removed mine the first day I got my 4GB stick. RE: Add/Remove Programs by rav0 on 10-13-2007 at 04:20 AM I kept the U3 stuff, that's part of the reason I bought a Cruzer. The other part was that Sandisk makes top quality products and I was replacing my 128 MB disk with a 2 GB disk also. After I bought it I found the portableapps.com launcher thing but I haven't tried that yet. RE: Add/Remove Programs by markee on 10-13-2007 at 05:19 AM
I must say Sandisk is really good hardware. My dad got a 1GB USB key and forgot about it in his pocket, he put his shirt to the wash and then when he found it he let it dry out for a bit. When we put it back into the computer all his files were still there RE: Add/Remove Programs by ryxdp on 10-14-2007 at 08:46 AM
