Contact search in WLM? by Mike on 10-12-2007 at 12:36 PM

Hey.

I remember that older versions of MSN had a feature that allowed you to search for contacts when adding a contact.

Anyone knows if that's still in WLM?

Thanks :)

Thanks, but I'm not talking about that. I remember that you could enter the first/last name and it would show a list of matching contacts.

Yup. It's just above all your contacts. and it has the text "Find a contact" in it

But that is for contacts that already are in your contact list.

I think I didn't make myself clear: I want to search for contacts that I don't have in my list by entering their fist/last name, location, etc.
Afaik, old MSN versions supported that.

Don't really remember such a feature. Even if it was there at a time, doesn't exist anymore.

Probably, but, I haven't ever used Yahoo, so I'm not sure...

There used to be a feature like that... :(
And I just remembered about Windows Messenger: If you are still using Windows XP, open Windows Messenger (Start -> Run -> msmsgs) and sign in. Then click "Add a contact" and then "Search for a contact". That is what I mean.
However, for some reason it doesn't work... (it says something like "For an unknown reason, your search failed. Please try again later.") :(
I might contact Microsoft about it... *-)

they probably disabled it because of privacy issues :P

Maybe...

Somebody help me find a link to contact for support! :-/
The one on the help menu in WLM says at the top that they won't respond to my email.
They stopped providing support now?

I'm not sure why you'd want to contact the support team Mike, I think what you're looking for is a place to leave feedback. In that case use the following:

https://feedback.live.com/eform.aspx?productkey=w...%20Messenger%208.5

And that feature has been removed for at least two major versions of Messenger :p. It was removed way back when MSN Chat and Groups were removed.
