Winter header is back by WDZ on 11-23-2007 at 05:08 AM

As you can see if you're in the northern hemisphere (and have your theme set to default), the forum header from last winter is back. [Image: mininana.gif]

This is actually a separate theme, so the "clouds" header is still available as an option.

Just to repeat what was posted in T&T: the "Christmas" theme (with a santa hat on the Plus! logo ) will be set as the default closer to Christmas. :p

Okay, for those of you who like the header I posted earlier, I updated it and fixed the snow and tiling. :cheesy:

I hope Eljay doesn't mind that I modified his design

Preview:

If you want to use User CSS / Stylish to change the header, you'll need to use Eljay's cloud style ("Messenger Plus Live!") or include the necessary overrides in your CSS.

Logo:

Logo with christmas hat:

Tile:

Edit :
20.12.2008 - Added header with christmas hat and updated preview.
Added darker version and updated preview again.

Yep, that's annoying... anyone know how to fix it? :p It actually varies based on what browser you're using and how wide the window is. =\
RE: Winter header is back by vaccination on 11-24-2007 at 12:22 AM

Maybe if we just tried andreys it might work better 8-)

WDZ, a simple fix would be making the image bigger :P

The only way I see that it would work for every browser is to make the logo part's top transparent (removing the snowflakes as well). I don't see why it wasn't done this way anyways. I'll do it if you give me the PSD, else it's too much work =P. Just remove the blue background part and the snowflakes and save as .png.. and you're done :p

Certain browsers don't support transparent png images 8-)
RE: Winter header is back by Nathan on 11-24-2007 at 12:31 AM

WDZ: replace the id #header h1 , code:

transparent url(../images/mpl/msgpluslive-logo-xmas-nohat.png) no-repeat scroll 12px 0pt

WITH

transparent url(../images/mpl/msgpluslive-logo-xmas-nohat.png) no-repeat scroll 6px 0pt

Tried and tested :)

My bad, it works only for certain res's

How would that work? It would just cut off different snowflakes. :p

I dunno, could be because IE6 doesn't support PNG transparency, and GIF quality sucks. =p

What if the logo image had position:absolute applied to it, so it would always stay in the same place (a good-looking place) on top of the tile?

Can't. :p IE6 support is still a must.

You could just have the header be one image, instead of the "logo" part and the tile. It's not like it takes much to load an image that long anyways.
RE: Winter header is back by Nathan on 11-24-2007 at 12:38 AM

WDZ: i'm trying it with a position: absolute now

Then people with different resolution and browser settings wont see it properly.
RE: Winter header is back by WDZ on 11-24-2007 at 01:06 AM

position:absolute fix has been applied; you may need to refresh to get the updated CSS. It works fine in every browser I have installed, but reply here if you have problems. :p

Add me onto the list.  I'm too lazy to use stylish and would prefer a winter theme even though I'm in the southern hemisphere because we only get winter christmas movies anyway.
