Heya,

I got a new phone :D :D it is a HTC Touch and I was wondering if any one new any apps that will allow me to use it as a remote?

I have tried various ones but they don't seem to work (Says IR transmitter cannot be found, and yes it does have infared :P)

Can't it use bluetooth instead of IR?

ShawnZ I had tried all of those, they all said they couldn't find the IR device.

No, it won't be that because I have beam'd files with IR. It's a program I would like, that will control tv's vcr's etc.

I know I have one on my flame, there has to be a reason infrared is not being dected, so instead of trying to find software that works play with the connectivity settings until it works

You won't have that much success with the IR on HTC devices (I have one) and controlling things via IR such as TVs etc.

Why? Because for some reason the IR transmitters on HTC devices are really short range. I need to be within 1 or 2 meters to successfully control something.

Compare this to my Dell Axim X51v and I can be > 5 meters away and still have perfect remote control.

Oh right ok, maybe thats why it hasn't been working :(

And even if it did it would be no use whatsoever.

That's how I understand it. The program cannot detect the IR device in the HTC Touch so can't use it to send any commands (never mind how powerful the transmitter is yet).
