quote:Thanks, i searched for that file in sp1, and i found this link http://www.ghacks.net/2007/12/10/remove-evaluatio...py-from-vista-sp1/ So thanks RE: Vista gone weird by prashker on 01-07-2008 at 12:24 PM
Why does everyone hate that watermark ? RE: RE: Vista gone weird by djdannyp on 01-07-2008 at 12:40 PM
quote: ditto i have vista on a second partition for testing but hardly use it, but i downloaded SP1 so that it'd show up the text on the bottom right corner of the desktop..........seems bare without it! RE: Vista gone weird by Dane on 01-07-2008 at 03:41 PM
quote:Since Windows Vista SP1 is BETA, not Final, that message gets displayed. Although Windows is Activated, you will be forced to Uninstall SP1 Beta at a future date to continue running Windows, although I think the expiration date is in like, June or July 2008, at which point in time SP1 Final will be released. I get that aswell Jimbo and I am using the release candidate version of SP1 it can be annoying but I wouldn't worry about it too much RE: Vista gone weird by Ezra on 01-07-2008 at 07:15 PM That's why you shouldn't install Beta service packs on your normal system, leave it to the beta testers to do it, cause it could also screw your installation beyond repair. quote: It's a public beta, there's no harm in using it. He was just quering whether the "Evaluation Copy" text on the desktop was normal behaviour. If people never used public betas then most programmes would be horribly buggy on release as a tester base of millions just using software normally can do far more than a testing base of a few programmers under abornormal conditions. And i very much doubt that what is essentially just a pack of fixes can screw up your installation RE: Vista gone weird by Tochjo on 01-07-2008 at 08:50 PM
quote:True, because during the beta testing stage, many bugs and errors in the software are found and fixed for the final release. And is it exactly that which leads to using beta software being more harmful than using only released software (that is no longer in beta stage). Which contradicts your statement that there is no harm in using it. The odds of something going (terribly) wrong are larger when using beta software. Of course, they are still very small, but larger nonetheless. quote:I can remember one particular normal release of Messenger Plus! that could render your Windows 98 installation useless, not starting anymore after a reboot. And that was not even a beta release. Using software always brings risks, using beta software increases those risks. |
