First message of a session not logged? by Mnjul on 01-24-2008 at 06:02 PM

I recently discovered that Plus! sometimes doesn't log the first several messages of a session if the messages are offline messages.

A new session is created in the logfile, but no messages are logged, like in this screenshot:

Using Plus! 4.50.0.0312, WLM 8.1.0178, Vista x64 or Vista x86.

Messenger Plus doesnt log the offline messages Search forums :dodgy:
* ahmetgns runs

ok ok, I said it logged it in that other thread however I just confirmed this bug 5 minutes ago. And I tested it again and really there is a problem with offline messages.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 (5.1.2600)
Windows Live Messenger 8.5.1018
Messenger Plus! Live 4.50.0.312
Skin: Old School Messenger 1.2

Edit: Well, now it didn't log an online message as well. This reminds me the known bug about first messages of convos.

Edit2: It logged one first offline message I received successfully. Random bug :undecided:

@ all who is interested with this bug. Please switch between the two options of offline messages from Messenger Options>Messages>"Offline Instant Messaging Settings" while trying to reproduce this.

Because according to my experiences if you set it "Show offline messages automatically when I sign in" it logs them successfully.

If you set it "Display the connection of my offline messages in the main window", then it cannot log them.

I am not hundred percent sure of this, but you must give it a try. For example, Mnjul, how is your setting about offline messaging? And Voldemort&Chrono, how is yours?

it happens with "normal" conversations too sometimes, it doesnt have to be an offline message...

"Show offline messages automatically when I sign in" enabled

yep, I'm aware of this problem and I was able to successfully debug it: unfortuantely, that's a bug in Messenger itself sometimes delaying the creation of the IMWindow object. I'm waiting to see if it will be fixed in Messenger 9 before I attempt some loosy fix.

Oké, let's kick this thread (A)

After MSN 6.2 became instable (last week) I had to upgrade to WLM so I installed Messenger Plus for Windows Live too.
But unfortunatly the bug Patchou described above is still present.
A couple years ago I didn't upgrade to WLM due this bug, but now it's still there :(

I can't find it on the forum, but are there any solutions in the pipeline? It's quite annoying to notice the first couple lines are missing. It only happens when your contact starts the conversation, when you start it yourself everything works fine.
I'm quite "addicted" to the logbook and even use it on professional base, so the propper working is essential for me.

I'd really appreciate if you guys find a way to solve this problem!
Thank you verry much

Technical information:
MSN WLM: Version 2009 build 14.0.8064.206
Messenger Plus: Version 4.82.0.368 (released 30 june 2009)

Continued in more recent thread: Logging is missing lines (recurring, this is not the first time)
