Disk partitioning help by MeEtc on 02-12-2008 at 05:56 PM

I'm re-organizing my disk partitions on my server and have encountered a problem. The primary disk has separated itself into 3 different unallocated regions, and I have no idea on how to join them together.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this from within Windows? I'd like to avoid booting to something else if possible, because the only way I have access to it without pulling wires, is via remote desktop.

I *think* if you right click one of them and select "New Simple Volume" and then right click it again(once done) and say "Extend volume" you can extend it onto the other 2 unallocated ones

If you want to make them part of the WinXP or Win2k3 volumes, you can use the extend volume thing again.

If you just want to join them but keep them unallocated then I'm not sure.

The extend volume option is only available if the disk is a dynamic disk (which its not).

Just tried it anyway, and whenever I try to put something on the 140GB section, diskmgmt keeps saying "The operation was cancelled due to an internal error" and doesn't make the partition.

EDIT: I ended up booting with a Ubuntu live cd, and using gparted fixed it.
