Status Change by fad3d_uk on 03-10-2008 at 07:55 PM

Hi, when i change my status to Away and personalize it, Messenger Plus does it for a split second and then its replaced with my display name and some weird characters.

Screenshot:

*note: even though it says im going on the 360, my 360 is set up NOT to connect to messenger*
im using:
Messenger Plus v 4.50.0.312 (No plug-ins)
Windows Live Messenger build 9.0.1407.1107

Any ideas why it's doing that?
I have re-installed Messenger Plus and its not done anything.

Thanks in advance

First of all, you should not  be using MSN 9.0 BETA since it is a private and not a public BETA. Secondly, I think this is what is causing it (Don't take it for granted, just an idea)

I have been using msn 9 since the beta came out * and i have not had this problem with it b4, and have not had this problem when i 1st installed msn9. Messenger plus states that it works with msn9 on the homepage.
also, If Microsoft wanted to keep it a closed beta, they would have restricted access to only the 3000 odd users 'invited' to the beta could connect. not allow everyone to connect through it.

??? sorry, but that's BS..... It is a CLOSED PRIVATE beta. If it was meant for the public it would be a PUBLIC beta available for everybody to download. Instead, it is a private beta, the reason why you have it is because somebody LEAKED it.

Please check if you have the same error when you use WLM 8.5.

This is off this page:

compatibility

The only thing needed to use Messenger Plus! Live is Windows Live Messenger (the latest version of MSN Messenger) which requires Windows XP or above. Messenger Plus! Live is compatible with Windows Live Messenger 8.0 to 9.0 and can be installed on 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista.

And like i said, if it was really a "closed beta" then ONLY the people who where asked to do the beta, should of been able to use it. not anyone who gets their hands on it.

And yes - i still get that error.

Yes it works with 9.0, but IIRC not all features do...

The 8.5 BETA was invite only. This is not. Invites do not exist. Therefore, how can Microsoft detect when a user is just signing in with an alternate email address in the BETA? One machine/person can use multiple addresses.

That means it could take even longer for it to be released. You are obviously having compatibility issues and have not been invited to use it, so my advice is to remove it fully from your system or gtfo.

Disable roaming option of WLM (Options>General>Use the same display picture and personal message everywhere I sign in.)

This problem has been asked here before two or three times.
