Dlls not found by Jimbo on 05-28-2008 at 11:55 AM
When i turn my computer on, i always get the 2 following errors. What programs do these DLLs come from and why cant the computer find them?
Also, when my computer turns on, the whole screen is black and the Documents window comes up, but only that. The way ive got around this is by ending explorer.exe and running it again but i still dont understand why it does it.
Also, I'm on Vista.
Thanks

You got spywarzzzz!!
If you know what you are doing get Autoruns and reboot into safe mode and remove them. If you don't know what you are doing install something like Spybot S&D and reboot into safe mode and run a scan.
P.S. Google is your friend. Forever and Always!

I saw a similar message about RunDLL and when I ran a full system scan, it was a virus called Trojan.Vundo.

Download Hijackthis and post a log here, that way we can dissect it .

These are sketchy for sure
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchy0.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winzdn32 - winzdn32.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: wvurstu - wvurstu.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSServer] rundll32.exe C:\Users\JAMESR~1\AppData\Local\Temp\nnnkllk.dll,#1
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [cmds] rundll32.exe C:\Users\JAMESR~1\AppData\Local\Temp\mllmn.dll,c
O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [svchost.exe] C:\Program Files\Common Files\svchost.exe
C:\Users\JAMESR~1\AppData\Local\Temp\ir_ext_temp_1\autorun.exe
Note sure what this is
C:\Users\JAMESR~1\AppData\Local\Temp\ir_ext_temp_1\autorun.exe
I had a very similar infection and spybot s&d came up clean, so did several other anti-spyware utilities, so what I ended up doing was using Unlocker to delete them, when you try deleting them, because they are hooked into rundll, your system will become all glitchy and such, just stay with it, delete those and then restart and everything should be fixed...
Ofcourse, this is what I did, hopefully it works for you, just don't sue me if it doesn't.

So what do I do with all those files you posted above, just delete them all? Using unlocker?
And what do i do about the file missing ones?
RE: Dlls not found by ipab on 05-28-2008 at 07:49 PM
My guess is the missing file ones are just that, missing, probably due to the fact that spybot s&d removed them. Just use hijackthis to remove those entries.
And yes, delete the files that I mentioned above.
By the way, do you have CCleaner installed?

EDIT: No i dont, i must of removed it a few weeks ago when i went through all my old programs
RE: Dlls not found by ipab on 05-28-2008 at 08:02 PM
download ccleaner and scan the registry for errors and fix them. Also, go into startup and post a screeny will ya.
RE: Dlls not found by Jimbo on 05-28-2008 at 08:48 PM
Heres the startup image:
RE: Dlls not found by ipab on 05-28-2008 at 10:52 PM
MSServer
cmds
Ptipbmf
Those are the three dll's you should have deleted, also delete those entries while you are at it, if they keep coming back, then you didn't delete them properly ...
Also, what the hell is the firefox optimizer?
Did you install that?
RE: Dlls not found by MeEtc on 05-28-2008 at 11:21 PM
some other things you can remove (that are more useless than annoyances)
Adobe speed reader launcher
SunJavaUpdateSched
iTunesHelper (may be useful to you, i dunno)

Thanks
EdIt: Just rebooted, those 2 error messages are now gone, thanks a lot to everyone who helped, especially ipab.
But still, when my computer turns on, the whole screen is black and the Documents window comes up, but only that. Again, The way ive got around this is by ending explorer.exe and running it again but i want to know why it does this and how / if i can stop it
RE: Dlls not found by ipab on 05-29-2008 at 07:33 AM
Run this with admin previliges (right click and select "Run as Administrator".
Note that this script makes changes to your registry so do a backup before you run it.

Thanks but its still not working. Could it be because its an xp script? OR is it because there is no "run as administrator option when i right click it?
RE: Dlls not found by ipab on 05-29-2008 at 05:58 PM
It's the run as problem, no proper admin previliges....
I'll just write a program quickly and give it to you... just sit tight.
EDIT: Fuck I don't have VS installed after my formatting... I'll just give you the reg keys to edit.
EDIT 2: Go to HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Winlogon.
Look at the string value for Userinit.
It should just be C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe, (note the comma)
This is assuming that your windows installation is on the C drive.
If there is anything else, remove/replace it with what I posted above and restart.

The string value is already set to that
RE: Dlls not found by ipab on 05-29-2008 at 07:39 PM
Are you sure it isn't duplicated twice or anything like that?
Post a screeny for me please.
EDIT:
Try this
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Look for a string called Shell
Edit it and put in explorer.exe

Currently in the shell string i have Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Config\lsass.exe Should i just change it to explorer.exe?
RE: Dlls not found by ipab on 05-29-2008 at 08:14 PM
Yes. Lsass.exe should only be in the system32 folder, find the file in the config folder and delete it while you are at it.
That config folder shouldn't even exist.
